Chicken and Egg Dish, kind of a Mother and Child Reunion…. Songwriter/Singer Paul Simon, saw a Dish named that in an Asian Restaurant over 50 yrs ago, and used that for a Song, and it's Title

Also a favorite of mine. A high quality dashi powder makes a big difference. Less salt, more fish, better flavor. A great dish to teach kids to have in their repertoire. Can do it in the microwave!
Y'all are looking great. Happy Father's Day to Dude!

The name “oyakodon” literally translates to “parent-and-child donburi”! This meal, and katsudonburi, were two of my favorites from the small donburi shop across the street from me when I was a short-term Baptist missionary in Japan (1978-1979). Such great memories of a lovely country and precious people. ❤
    Thank you for the recipe!

I have all but the dashi and what that sprinkle topping was. I am going to see what how you spell it in the recipe and see if I can get it on Amazon along with the dashi unless I can get to the Asian Market soon. Thanks for this recipe
❤ Please tell Dude Happy Father's Day!!
