In the uk shepherds pie is made with lamb mince and cottage pie is with beef mince and to get it to hold the shape we use only butter and hand mash the potatoes on top of the mince mixture.

I hate peeling sweet potatoes too. I cut the ends off then peel. It's much easier for me that way .
For the Shepherds pie (which is technically a cottage pie beause you used beef… a shepherds pie is with lamb mince 😜) if you let the mashed potatoes and meat mixture each cool right down until they are barely warm and then assemble it… it won't mush together in the cooking process. Or it works if you assemble ahead of time and then cook it when it's gone cold 😊 A firmer mashed potato is another tip. Loved the video though… I'm hoping we can get the mild buffalo sauce in the UK 😍

I am making the oven baked beef stew tonight. Just doing in the slow cooker, instead of baking. I want to be lazy tonight. Updated to add: this has serious potential to be good. Wayyyyy too much ketchup. I’d probably do about 1/4 cup next time at most. Otherwise it’s delicious.
I feel like I’m more likely to be offended if there isn’t a lot of cheese hahaha what’s the point??

It's a shame that Shepard's Pie didn't get served with some mini corn muffins or yeast rolls. Other than that, these all look really delicious. But that Shepard's Pie is really what I want to try. Avid Homemade Mashed Potato fan right here.

99% of the vitamins are in the potatoe peelings.
I put the cheese between my meat and potatoes on the Shepard's pie, it makes the meat mixture thicken and yummy.
Just so you know, I'm Irish and have made this mistake. You made a Cottage Pie, not a Shepard's Pie. Cottage pie is made with beef, and Shepard's is made with lamb. I make a "Shepard's" pie close to this one, and my family calls it Shepard's pie.. my granny would bust my butt if she knew I didn't say the right thing. Just thought you'd like to know, I'm always interested in learning new things.
