Yum! This looks DELICIOUS. We didn't have any special birthday food but we do have a braai (barbecue) dish that is very similar. I make it because obviously I don't do meat on the braai like most South Africans. I do "pap (pronounced pup) tert"…which translates horribly as porridge tart 🤪. But really it's DELICIOUS. Just crumbly cooked maize meal with olive oil and the same process and veggies as yours. Unfortunately most Saffers slather pap tert with gooey cheese. I grate a bit of vegan mozzarella into the maize meal but I'm happy to omit cheese altogether

Ymmmmm…..Comfort food😋, besides being Fun Food for kids! Thank you for sharing Chef Jana, 👍the video as well as your childhood pictures and yes there are 2 birthday celebrations here in my country, Mexico, Pozole, whether red, green or white, the first two are made with red and green peppers respectively, the white Pozole, without any chili peppers and Mole, chocolate-flavored chili sauce coating cooked chicken or turkey, BUT I have seen Vegan Pozole here and I've yet to try a recipe of this, as for the Mole, maybe subbing the meat with jackfruit or oyster mushrooms? Greetings 👋for your family and you Chef Jana! 🤠

Me again! My Nonna would press minced garlic in the risen dough. And, anchovies (ugh). So since my palate didn’t care for anchovies, I always got my own pizza, without them. Now that I am vegan, this recipe to me is priceless. Good memories, tho. Thank you so much!

This looks amazing! And when I saw all the wonderful ingredients you put in the topping…WOW! I’m afraid to make it though. I’m afraid I couldn’t stop eating it. (I know I will eventually break down and make it. I have to; it looks so easy.)

Love the photos! :^) Thanks for showing; that was fun.

My mom wasn't much of a baker or dessert maker; we never had dessert. Only holidays were for sweets, and birthdays. Only one kind of birthday cake for all of us: carrot cake!
