Why do you put it in a mylar bag to open it the next day? I understand for long term but isn't it a waste for the test?

Did you say 37 hours? Pre frozen then place in a pre-cooled freeze dryer for 35 hours drying then 2 hours final dry?

Question: what makes you decide to use the parchment paper vs the silicone mats?
Why prefeeeze? Is it a cost savings measure or less wear on the freeze dryer? Just ordered one and dont have room to pre freeze. Is that an issue…?
Do you have to freeze the pea soup before putting it into Freeze dryer? Sometimes it explodes when its a liquid, and I'm so not a fan of that.
I prefer more liquid pea soup with ham chunks but that's the nice thing about the freeze drying process, you can do this just as easy. I suppose the only caution is to make sure your ham is very lean especially if the goal is very long term storage. Thanks for video.
