I gotta say, I was excited for this one. I love MK and CR, and Marisha is generally a good GM, but this was kind of a letdown 🫤 I was very interested to see how this game would work with Til the Last Gasp mechanics, but I think it hindered the players more than helped. I suppose I should’ve realized it wouldn’t be very smooth when they decided to use a two player game with four people. I know there are systems out there that are almost devoid of rules, and the whole point is to just improv the entire story, but if this is what those games are like, then I’m not interested. I love the group storytelling aspect of D&D, but this came across like “we don’t really know the rules, and nobody’s played this yet, so just make everything up.” It felt forced, the players all seemed confused, Marisha seemed out of her element. It was all just…meh ☹️

This is one of the best versions of Sindel in my eyes. She is a jaded villain, but it's not without understanding like in MK11. She's been a victim of abuse and resurrection so many times, it's understandable why she would stray from the path of the light. I particularly like how she punished Shao Khan and Shang Tsung. Shang becomes a victim of soul stealing, ironically. Shao being used as an object much like how he viewed Sindel. Marsha wrote her character so seamless. I kinda wish we get a version of this Sindel like this down the road.

Even though I knew there was no way they'd get away with playing it, I was still holding out a vain hope they'd use the "Techno Syndrome" theme from the 1995 movie when they started the game… so much so that I had to pause before Marisha went into GM mode to listen to it before I could go on.

    No regrets.

As an FGC veteran that feared this one-shot wouldn't stay true to the source material: This is absolutely amazing, great work honoring the game's legacy and putting your own spin on it! 👏
