    No Nonna would use boxed broth. Maybe as an experiment you would try again with homemade chicken broth? It would be a great way too to have some chicken for other recipes(I like to use dark and white meat(bone in, skin on).😊

    As someone who was with an Italian who made this often, I disagree with how it's been made. That's not even the correct pasta, pastina is the star shaped pasta.
