A couple of years ago I found a 1970s grater at the thrift store and today I’m going to use it to make old-fashioned #bologna #salad. Let’s get shredding! 🥪Want to …
The bologna salad is exactly like "Skinke salad" yum! Have this pretty often here in denmark with some Rygeost (if someone can send you some Fynsk Rygeost i'd be thrilled. It's a delicious, smokey and smooth cheese)
I bought some hotdogs for a different recipe. And thought of this one for my leftover hot dogs… 🤔🙂
Ham salad is a sweet delicacy from my childhood 🤤
9/10 of the products in this world are made for 2/3 of the people; right-handers.
My Grandma made it with some cherries. This made me feel so nostalgic. Thank you for bringing back these memories!
I laughed so hard when you giggled to say "time to grate some Bologna" an clunk, "boing" it fell apart. Love the Bloopers!!! I can't stop laughing, just make bloopers…
That shredded bologna would be amazing turned into an omelet.
Try making ham salad! my gram would always either buy it cause our mom and pop store in town would make it, or she'd do it herself. There was also sammich spread, don't remember which i liked more but, i'm almost 100% sure sammich spread is what you call Bologna salad.
My grandma in Mexico would make this but with ham and cheese
I am so happy to hear you talk about Simply Sara, she is the sweetest!
My husband's 83 year old grandma makes me this or kidney bean salad almost every Monday. Never thought about putting cheese in it though.
She forgot to say et tat dakey mass when she tasted the bologna!
Emmy, you have tried some very "adventurous" items on your channel. Kudos to you. I was wondering if anything you tried has ever make you physically ill or created any issues for you?
It's called Monkey Meat in North Eastern PA. With ground bologna and pickles, mayo and onions maybe? Not sure.
Aaahhh! I love simply sara! So glad she's getting some recognition. Her channel is so calming and sweet❤
As a European, I find this recipe very American.
I don't know why but I kept expecting the bologna salad to like, congeal back into solid chunks of bologna. I mean I knew it wasnt going to, but I still expected it for some reason.
I love Sara!
🖤🧡❤💙💜💛🖤
I remember having this when younger and also making it for a wake before (funeral). They were the first sandwichs to be eaten up!
Sodium Nitrite salad! Yum! . . . lol . . .
Bologna salad was a staple in my house as a kid for lunch. Especially at my grandmother's house! We still even eat it today! Not newly as much as we used to, like in my childhood. We actually had a meat grinder that my grandparents bought JUST for bologna salad. They still have it; they bought it brand new in the early 60s. That goes to show that vintage things were build to last!! About 5 years ago, the bad that makes it stick to the surface cracked so it won't stay still, so I bought them a new one for their safety and as older, traditional people are….. They still use the old one unless I'm around hahaha, but YES! Even thinking about bologna salad evokes so many childhood memories!
I make this a lot in the summer. I also add boiled egg to mine. I just run everything through a grinder.
Should make her legendary macaroni salad tho…
Mhhhhhh… Pig Spaghetti 🐖🍝
You should use your right hand you left handed weirdo…lolol
I never knew that this was a thing 😂
"eaten by children and people" ahhh yes, just what I thought. Children are not people.
This is what my mom called ham salad! Ring bologna, mayo and relish. Yum!
Lmao i loved that weird old taco bell cheese when i was a kid in the early 80s!
This was fascinating to watch and disturbing all at the same time lol I imagined the flavor to be that close to a ham salad mix. I think my children would actually like this haha
My grandma used to make this all the time only she did use ham. She likes to use that canned deviled ham and I think I am the only family member that actually loved it!
What are you doing with all the mixture? That’s a lot of sandwiches!
Might seem odd, but I feel like I would egg some sliced hard boiled egg to the sandwich.
Had this all the time as a kid and still eat it ! Love your shirt Emmy 🙂
My grandpa put bologna onion and mayo and salt. God, it was so gross. I miss you papaw.
We call that Kentucky round steak
I love Simply Sara. I've been watching her for years. 🙂
Simply Sarah is the size of a Ford aerostar Minivan! Why would anyone want to promote or eat anything that monster eats?
Did you use German bologna? It looks like it, to me it has a milder sweeter flavor than regular bologna.
Uh NO thank you 😫😜
I like Simply Sara.
She’s so friendly and fun!
TIL: emmy is left handed
"oh my meat fell out"
To make the suction strong enough to attach the apparatus to the surface do two things 1) (most important) make sure the surface you are attaching to is super smooth, 2) you can additionally coat the bottom of the apparatus with a tiny bit of water before engaging the suction for an even stronger bond.
so ewww..yuck
To be honest, I haven't watched any of your recent "Make strange this out of weird that" vids. But you had me at b'loney. Ate a lot of "ham salad" as a kid and never realized it was shredded b'loney. Now, at age 73, you have awakened many fond memories. Thank you, Our Lovely!
Our family with five hungry kids would have polished that bowlful off in a flash, back in the 50's, and YES you need chips with it. Put some chips into the sandwich, delicious. And we all survived that diet!
my mom makes something like this with an old cast iron meat grinder that attached to the cutting board or countertop with a vice. I remember turning the handle when I was young and the juice from the pickles running down into the bowl set on a chair underneath the grinder. She uses ring bologna and gherkin pickles instead of already-chopped relish. Definitely Miracle Whip. I don't make it myself because I just couldn't (definitely shouldn't) eat a whole batch of it. She made it within the last couple months and mentioned it and I admit I was a little disappointed I didn't get a little tub of it just for nostalgia's sake 🙂
I’ve made this but with actual ham. I would take left over ham and put it in a good processor to grind it up then mix it with mayo and relish.
