We had Bob's Big Boy in California where I grew up, and there are Shoney's, and Frich's Big Boy out in the Mid-west. I adore Big Boy, and loved the chocolate cake and the fich, and chips as a little girl in the 70's, and 80's. Fun memories.

I've been a restaurant cook since I was 15 years old I'm in my sixties now the one thing that I learned over the years when it comes to any kind of cream pie chocolate vanilla coconut Eden lemon meringue when you have any kind of pie like that your best bet to a not get a soft crust or watery crust how it turns after a while is put 1 to 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar on the bottom and on the sides of the prebaked pie crust and what that does is it actually creates a barrier between the liquid and the crust under pie crust actually stays crusty so to speak…

To even come close to making Shoney’s strawberry pie,you don’t cook the strawberries, use a shortbread cookie dough for crust and strawberry jell .But I’m sure this one is delicious too .I love strawberries.

I loved Bob's Big Boy Restaurant as a kid! I assume the pie was chilled before she put the whipped cream on…Paula's going a little wacko, but I cut her some slack since she's getting up there in years…Using the spider to transfer the filling to the crust was odd and wacky. And why didn't she pour every bit of the syrup filling on the crust? She always says she doesn't like to waste anything…And using her finger with the whipped cream?! Crazy lol.

On one of our major highways in N.C There is a BBQ restaurant that has one of the original BIG BOY outside. We used to go to Shoney's a lot. Was one in Gatlinburg. Definitely in Pigeon Forge. Enjoy everything about you.Love to hear you three crack up.😘😘

It was called Bob's Big Boy in Southern California. I LOVED it there! They closed down a while ago, but if one exists in the USA, I will happily travel.
