That’s not a Italian beef ok . I truly know him and his family . There from Taylor street . I’m surprised he did this . It’s a shredded beef sandwich basically. I’m sure it’s good but definitely not A Chicago Italian beef at all .

Shredding the beef, what the hell part of Chicago did you grow up in, Winnetka? I'm 76 and have started with Carm's beef, until they got too salty. In 1971, I had my first Mr. beef's on Orleans. Our son now brings us Mr. Beef's to Des Moines, Iowa. They don't have a clue how to make them here. 52 years of heaven. Shredded beef, you should be neutered.

Zakarian is just playing along. "Vibrant" mockingly when he says it. Nobody has ever praised a green bell pepper.

Also, nobody has ever pulled their beef for any beef sandwich. Even a goddamn brisket gets sliced. No matter how well you braise beef, it NEEDS to be sliced. For an Italian Beef, it needs to also be soaked in the au jus. Most places just keep sliced beef held in it until ordered.

Tell that guy that gravy is not AU JUS. Au JUS means at juice in French so that means when you put the item at the juice or in the juice (gravy, sauce). So the correct thing that he should have said is “We have our JUICE (Jus) and when we put the sandwich in it we now have a sandwich AU JUS.
