This is so sweet. I've loved this channel but I've been on a keto diet, so I've had to enjoy a lot of it vicariously, but there were some really great recipes in this one, even for me!

Thank you for creating a way for your audience to join you in Calabria! I wish I could go but I will settle with living vicariously through others! My visit to Sicily is still in the far future when my husband and I can together to where my family is from: Termini Imerese! I long to see where they lived and worked!

I love genovese fujuta. We coock the red onions for hours with a pinch of baking soda ad we use two kilos of onions… obviously we then freeze the leftover sauce. We usually do it for Pasqua (Easter) or around that period. On Sunday. I don’t know why but even if the house smells horribly I have fond memories of it. Every year when I wake up to the smell of genovese fujuta of my mother I look foward to be sitting at the table with my family.

The french dessert is indeed called blanc-manger, made from almond milk and known as a dish for lent (the white colour symolizes the purity). It is known in several european countries and maybe it comes from an arabian dish called "isfidhabaj" which means white food.

Here are the names of this dish in other countries… not all copied from the italians I guess….

    – latin: albus cibus, esus albus

    – italian: mangiare bianco, biancomangiare, blanmangieri, bramangere

    – spanish: manjar blanco

    – portuguese: manjar branco

    – french: blanc-manger

    – english: blancmange

    – dutch / flamish: blanc mengier

    – german: blamensir (medieval)

You and Eva NEED to make a response video to Pewdiepie's pizza making and eating video. He's in Italy right now with his wife. I think they need a lesson in pizza making.

I love you channel, but personally I don't think this is good diet food at all.
For most satiation for less calories, you want protein, less fat, less refined carbs/sugars and less calorie density.
Bulk of this meal is pasta which is refined carbs, it's very quick to digest and calorie dense = it doesn't keep you full very long. And you want lean protein since it also has effect of making you feel full and you exert more energy braking it down. More veggies is always good since it has such and low calorie density making you feel full.

You could make pasta dish good diet meal as long as you just ate it with plenty of lean protein like chicken, and for example roasted veggies sprayed with olive oil.
This way while you would have pasta, you would have less of it, lot of the meals would be items that are more satiating for less calories.

Ultimately diet food just comes to this, less calorie density.
