Watch to see Hannah explain why it’s not so bad if your enamel pot is chipped and how to avoid it getting chipped in the first place. Comment below with your “Is …
Why does my enameled Dutch oven have a bloom on the outside like when you have old wellies?
yall tell me 'dont heat it when it's empty' and also tell me to 'preheat it in the oven at 500 for 30 full minutes' when i'm making bread. which one am i supposed to go with? i love bread!
My worry is that I might have swallowed the 'chip'. Is it bad? How can it not be bad to your health?
I've heard there is lead in Le CREUSET according to Wardee at Traditional Cooking School. (You can look it up)
Thank you, that's awesome!
I have several cast iron Dutch ovens, I also own a cone 10 schutt kiln. Can I glaze them in glass ceramic slip and make them myself.
Add hot water to dutch oven.?
Is it bad to use a pitted stainless steel pot?
It’s not bad. If you bought a Le Creuset, you have lifetime warranty. In any event, it means time to get a new one.
I poured water into my pot and the enamel on the pot popped clean off. I thought I could shave a few hundred dollars off by buying a thrift shop pot. Apparently not 😤 good to know it's safe still. Will I need to oil glaze the raw iron now?
Don't forget that if you see a prominent chef using metal tongs on a Le Creuset dutch oven it's probably because they are sponsored by them and got the cookware for free!
Very helpful. Thank you.
Actually older enamel (respectively base layer substance) often contained lead and/or cadmium. So this info may be borderline dangerous in case of chipped vintage cookware.
How to store it back after washing
I just chipped my enameled Dutch oven while using an oven mitt (not on my hand, but between my hand and the knob, like a regular pot holder) to remove the lid. Too much bulk for the level of attention I was paying. It lifted a little, then slipped and crashed back down. Use common sense folks. Go slowly with those things.
Hey hi Hannah… Always love to see your pretty face and lovely smile
Is it bad if I buy a 3-ply stainless steel Dutch oven rather than an enamel one
How common is it chipped from the factory? I bought a La Creuset and it arrived chipped, did a return, and it just arrived chipped. Anyone have a similar experience? It feels weird… am I being too picky?
"Is it bad…" if the interior enamel is browning on the bottom?
thank you!!
I seem to have a brown substance seeping though the cracks of the enamel. I’m assuming this is rust. Is there a way to remedy this issue?
I’ve heard that the enamel coating leaches toxic chemicals into your food. Is that true? What is the enamel made of?
I bought a Dutch oven pot from Costco…their brand called Kirkland. ITS THE BOMB!!! Very big, high quality for only 39.00!!!! I absolutely love it!
Is it bad that I can't stop staring at Hannah?
how to clean them after a bad food burn where food get stuck on the inside or where food stains the inside. my 10 year old pots are so stained.
This gave me the confidence to invest in enameled cast iron. Excited to experiment!
Is it bad that my le Cruset dutch oven has a chip on the bottom of the inside? I have always been careful to use plastic or wooden utensils with it but somehow developed a chip in the bottom. Is it safe to use? Have particularly avoided cooking anything with tomatoes in it but after seeing your video, I'm not sure if that is necessary. Used it for everything except baking for more than 30 years and miss having it to use. Inherited a smaller one from my mother with no chips but it is not big enough for some of my regular recipes.
Is it bad if my KitchenAid mixer leaks "food-safe" grease?
I have pure cast iron cookware now and use it for cooking most of the time. I also have a carbon steel wok which I got at the local military base years ago, and still some non stick cookware which is the last I will buy and throw it out when it begins to peel the Teflon material into the food. I just recently decided to go back to cast iron cookware which my grandmother used all her life.
Not necessarily an "Is it Bad" question but I would love to America's Test Kitchen produce a series on different materials in the kitchen (difference between stainless steel, aluminum, cast iron, copper etc). Specifically I'd love to see a YouTube series about cooking on/with tin-lined copper pans. There is very little contemporary information about care/use/recommendations/limitations for cooking with tin-lined pans… But if I were to have an "Is it Bad" question, I'd like to know is it bad to use aluminum pans?
This was helpful. Thanks for sharing.
Don't do like I did and use a good French enamel dutch oven to make the Sullivan Street Bakery bread recipe. Use straight cast iron. The enamel on the bottom is rough like sand paper.
In my first apartment the previous tenant had left a whole set of this stuff behind, and like an idiot I left it when I moved too. Didn't realize how good and expensive it was at that time.
My enameled pot for some reason is no longer shiny on the bottom and is rough. I'd made fudge in the pot and have soaked and boiled but cannot get back the shiny surface. Can this be fixed?
Back on the day PBS had The Fugal Gourmet and he advocated waking your spoon handle on your hand over the pot, I've done this ever since I say that show when I was a kid. You don't bang up your pans, and usually what's on the spoon slides of into the pan. Oh and don't forget hot pan, cold oil food won't stick lol.
I have been using my Mom's c. 1960s enamel pot since college, and most of the bottom was already chipped away then, and it is still going strong.
Is it bad if my stainless steel pans have brown around the edge that I can't get off?
Can they coat it with gorilla glass 6?
But what about the fond from browning lolz
Is it bad if there's a small chip in my (non- PFOA) nonstick IKEA pan? And while we're at it, is that sort of pan dangerous?
She is beautiful inteligent and cook … i am in love !😍
