My first attempt at using the Instapot and cooking a chuck roast with carrots and potatoes. If you make this, you will NOT be disappointed. Fall apart tender and …
Instapot chuck roast with carrots and potatoes:
—————————————————————————
2-3 pound chuck roast.
1 Tablespoon vegetable oil.
1.5 pounds small or cut up potatoes.
3 carrots cut up.
1.5 cups beef broth (1 can).
1 teaspoon seasoning salt.
1 teaspoon garlic powder.
1 teaspoon onion powder.
1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning.
2 Tablespoons corn starch (if you want to make gravy)
I figured it out. I could not understand why I had smears on my screen. I found someone visited this video early before the smears on the screen. Watching they must have licked the screen wanting to taste the final product. Only to realize the screen was in the way.
Great video! Thanks!
You can peel your Tators, put them in tin foil wrap, and your carrots, clean and cut up, wrap in tin foil, place in Instapot while you cook the roast. I have done this many time and it is the best Tators and Carrots you will ever have
Slow cooking is a great way to cook it ready for you when you get home from work .
Can't believe that is the first time you used your Instant Pot. You really knew what you were doing!! Going to be making that tonight here in SoCal.
Looks delicious!!! That would be nice to come home to. Karen from Canada

Looks really good!
I love my Instant pot…. try Mississippi pot roast…. especially with deer meat….
That looks soooo, good. ..but for me i am a simple country girl…i just use a dutch oven…on the stove, in the barbecue, or in the oven….i add some dark balsamic vinegar, soy sauce, garlic powder, sear both sides of the roast in the mixture add the roast..cook until almost done then add carrots, potatoes, onions, and sometimes turnips and sweet potatoes. ..in with the meat..then just bake until all is tender..plate up meat with vegetables then put dutch oven on the stove. Make your gravy…such a comfort meal..especially on a very cold winter night…I know these insta pots are just that in an instant. …but I am old fashion I guess…hard for me to change..but like to see how other appliances work..thank you as the rooster crows…
Joe…why do you always use paper plates? here, the tent, Farmhouse…. even when you have a meal?
I can't believe you didn't put onion in your pot roast.
I always flour my chuck roast before browning. Helps to thicken the broth
also.
Joe, are u telling me u can cook a raw potato in 4 min with that device?
Huge success! Thanks for sharing your recipe. The cost of meat has really gone up. I will be looking to our local farmers. $25.99 per lb Delmonico here in Ohio at the store and slim pickin's. Going to fire up the grill today. I just watched JoeAndZachSurvival, completely off topic here but could I ask a question? What kind of mouse poison does Joe use at the tent? Where does he find it. I have to set traps outdoors for small critters. Don't want them getting into the house. Our Home Depot has nothing like that here. Thank you
Looks delicious Joe you'll make Melissa a excellent side one day if you only would do Windows lol
Pressure cooker is my favorite way to do Chuck roast.👍👍
What is your pressure cooker called
Instapot is awesome. I'm used to the bbq but instapot is good if you've had a busy day
Good job Joe,next time use 2 real onions not seasoning, much better flavor….but still a great job….
I love my instant pot gonna try this looks yummy 🌸🌺🌸
I just got an Instant Pot 2 months ago….Yum Yum… Thanks for sharing, Joe
I like adding 1c of red wine to mine, then add beef bouillon for the beef flavoring. I also toss in about 1.5 lbs of mushroom along with the carrots and spuds.
Good job. Instant Pot is so easy to use but people get all freaked out about it. Glad you showed how straightforward it is.👍
04/28/20. Hey Joe, just bought a Instant Pot from Amazon but due to Covid-19 they aren’t shipping till May 9th. Surprised you have one but I guess the IP is Melissa’s. Ran the video but forgot to make comment so ran a 2nd time and decided it was worthwhile on the prep again. So you’ll have to report on how Melissa enjoyed it.
Looks good. Trina and I will sometimes save the juice and use it in a pot of navy beans. Good stuff
I thought for sure that Melissa would be the taste tester, fair is fair. Maybe next time. 🙂
Some of you videos you use a unique spatula that looks like a shovel with slots. (Draining, slotted, spoon, spatula, shovel, colander.) lol Those are the key words I use to search for one. What kind of spatula is it and where can I get one?
I see the fillet knife made it back.It looks soooo good ,I could almost smell it.
What size InstantPot do you have? I bought an 8-quart one around Christmas, but haven't tried it yet. You might have encouraged me to open it up, clean it and use it.
