Hey how do you cook rice so it doesn't come out mushy? I did even cups of rice per water on high pressure for 6-8 mins. Even with Basmati it comes out mushy idk why. Any ideas or tips?

Listen my advice. I am Italian and I cooked pasta for ages, even before going vegan. Using an IP is a waste of energy and time. I tried with IP myself various times and there is absolutely no advantage in using it. Instead, use a normal pot on the stovetop (or even IP sauté function). Bring the water and salt to boil, add the pasta, stir one time, turn off the stove and put the cover on the pot. Wait for the time on the package (for whole-wheat pasta I add a couple of minutes) and drain. So you don't have to stir the pasta or do anytihg else. Google for "passive cooking pasta"; you'll find the scientific explanation for using this method.
On the other hand, IP is essential for other preparations, like beans (although I prefer a slow cooker) and steaming brown rice (while white rice comes out always too mushy, so I use a rice cooker for it).

Hey RPV, I couldn't find a way to message or email you so I am going to dump this here. You can delete if you want. Anyhow, Dr. Berg is at it again: https://youtu.be/lIkLQDUE9a0 You can find my response. I posted it about 4 minutes ago. If it disappears, let me know, I copied it and saved it to my hard drive. 😉

    Hope you are well!

(figured this video would tie into his video. 😉 )

I have a pressure cooker, and I really wish I would have gotten an instant pot instead! Mine doesnt have a manual button, so I never know what setting to use when copying recipes that people use their manual button to cook. It's still pretty awesome to use in the summer when its 85 degrees in my kitchen! And, RPV, your finished meal looked AWESOME!!

I love my IP. I have the Blue one that you have (got it from Target).

Like Mandz, I like to put sauce and/or veggies in my pasta at the same time.

I rarely use my stove and oven anymore. Moist heat is the best way to cook food so I am a total IP "groupie" now. 😉

I make wheat berries and oat groats in a big batch for the week so when I am getting ready for work, I put some in a separate bowl (with an aluminum sling until I can find a cheap silicone mat I can cut up) and steam them (5-6 minutes) back to hot on subsequent days for a quick breakfast.

The IP has made my life so much easier and I use it every day.
