Hahaha. I was just watching not listening and I thought you were putting apples in. Half moons it is. I was told by Olive Garden that it was chard they put in. Chard is related to beets and kale is related to cabbage, I thought they were in the same.family. Yum Flo, thanks.

    Hello,
forgive my English, use google translate.
I am writing to you because the dish you have prepared is not the "Tuscan soup", it has nothing of Tuscan soup.
Zuppa Toscana is a typical dish, like many other international dishes, and has specific ingredients and preparation methods. You can call it my soup or my grandmother's soup, but not Tuscany soup otherwise it's like making a portrait and call it "La Gioconda", the difference is there

    Ingredients for 4 people

    300 GR OF TUSCAN BREAD

    400 GR OF WHITE BEANS

    1 BLACK CABBAGE

    ½ CAVOLO VERZA

    3 BIETOLA BEETS

    2 CARROTS

    2 POTATOES

    2 ONIONS

    2 PHASES OF CELERIA

CONSERVATION (OR TOMATO CONCENTRATE) How much is enough

    SALT AND PEPPER

    EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL

How to prepare the bread soup

Take a pot with oil and fry the chopped onions, carrots and celery and boil the beans in the water. When the sauté is ready, add the preservation diluted in hot water. Add the chard, the two sliced cabbages and the thick sliced potatoes. Put salt and pepper q.b. and cook with the lid for a few minutes, then pour into the pot all the broth of the beans. Cook for at least forty minutes, then when all the vegetables are well cooked, add the sliced bread and whole beans. Allow to boil some more minutes and serve hot or refrigerate for the evening or even the day after.

I stopped eating beef about 5 years ago but sometimes I do crave as good beef burger or we'll have beef of course with our pho. My mom's husband died 2 years ago from stomach cancer and I say it's from all the beef he ate. He was big on beef especially a big fat steak. Thanks for the info, now I'm going to be more cautious and think before I eat beef and processed meats.

That looks great.. Could I use bratwurst, as I have a case of them in the freezer.. They are the regular, not beer bratwurst. If so, what added spice would you use with them..

Flo, I happen to know that the "Italian Restaurant" and any other Italian recipes with cream or creamy sauces, or any type of greens also has bit of nutmeg which gives the dish it's distinctive flavor. I keep my nutmeg in the freezer and just grate some (not a lot) in after it has cooked. Love your videos! You're the reason I bought my Instant Pot.

I find that a lot of these "organizations" tend to demonize certain foods because they are looking for "hush money" to not condemn the product. I go with your simple philosophy (which is the theme of your channel), "everything in moderation". Although, you don't smoke. Neither do I, but there is also a misnomer there. It is not tobacco that gives you cancer, it is the burning of the pesticides infused in the leaves that is the killer. But, now back in focus, Zuppa Toscana is THE most delicious soup I have ever made. Most times I make it without the bacon, just because I don't have it readily available, and it is STILL delish! I have found that just turning off the IP and adding the kale and cream works just fine and cooking it the rest of the way. It is quite hot enough and is usually done in a few minutes.
