My aunt cooked potatoes in the same pot as her pintos. It began when she added too much salt and the potatoes were to absorb some of the salt. The kids loved the potatoes so much from then on she always cooked potatoes in her beans.

Hi Leslie, I noticed you didn't clean off the floaters in your beans once you got them in the water. My grandmother had always told me those beans will take longer than the others and will be tough. Do you think grandmother was right? I don't know. I've just always done it. lol Judah was precious waving at us in the video. You are blessed to be able to keep your grandson. I know it wears you out sometimes but all mine are grown up now and I barely get to see them. High school, college, marriage and life will take their time faster than you know. I would love to have one of Lori's cookbooks! But we are on a fixed income and I get to see her on youtube cooking so I figure that is my prize. At least I can get my internet. That way I can watch a lot of different cooking channels. God bless, stay safe, stay well.

It seems you are unware like I used to be, any kind of vegetable or beans product, like pinto beans, broadbeans or black eyed peas, any kind of bean and even peas, containing a husk, (skin) should never be salted in the beginning of the cooking process as the salt toughens the skin/husk, salt should only be added towards the end of the cooking process. It works! Just my two cents worth…. Enjoy! 😊

I cook mine for 35 minutes take the top off then turn it back on without the lid and let them boil down to a thick soup. Keep an eye on it because it will boil dry quick. 2 cups pintos with 6 cups water. Taste like you cook them on stove top all day.

I have two more favorite instant pot recipes to suggest, then I promise I will stop sending you comments 😂
Porcupine meatballs, I found the recipe on channel "3G Cooking" instant pot porcupine meatballs.
Only problem I have is they are sooo good that I never get around to serving over rice or noodles. I just reheat them in sauce and eat them. ** I make them with ground chicken instead of the beef **

Salsa chicken : add frozen or thawed chicken breast into pot. Sprinkle taco seasoning over each piece of chicken. Spoon over salsa (any heat level you like). If you have extra salsa just add to pot. Lastly add 1 cup chicken broth to pot.
Cook frozen for 20-25 minutes, thawed chicken for 15-20 minutes.
    Quick release
You can eat as is with sauce in pot OR shred chicken and stir back into juice in pot and use for taco or burritos. I've even made this shredded chicken then used in my taco soup recipe.
    As always, enjoy 💞

I love my Insta-Pot and use it often. My favorite meat to cook in it is roast beef. It's always so flavorful and tasty. And gravy made from the juice is absolutely delicious. Can't wait to try the beans. Yours look so yummy. Love your videos. Again….greetings from North Mississippi.

It seems like the darker beans must’ve been older, like you said. If some weren’t covered by the water, the Instant Pot isn’t going to decide to cook every bean except the dark ones. For some reason, if it’s just the dark ones, that tells me something was different about them specifically. I hope that makes sense and I explained the direction of my thinking. Overall, you do seem happy about the end result, yes? They look so delicious and I think anything made with salt pork and bacon grease is going to be wonderful. Yummy!!

That new shirt is super flattering on you. I’m glad to see you using your instant pot. I’m in the Central Valley of California and it is supposed to be a ridiculous 97 degrees today. I am so glad to use my pot rather than heat up the kitchen

I make corn on the cob and baked potatoes in my instant pot. Both are probably not on your diet. However, they are so easy and great tasting ! You can put frozen chicken breasts in 2 or 3 at a time. Manual pressure for 35 minutes. Yummy !

I use my instant pot ALL the time. Pasta is easy and uses less water.
Suggestion : look up video of "Flo Lim instant pot spaghetti ". I use the that recipe but I cook up ground turkey Italian sausage on saute, then build the spaghetti from there.
Hope you look it up on YouTube 😊

Leslie, you should try adding just a sprinkle of cinnamon to your pork roast. It adds that warmth of a hug, it is delicious. No one will be able to guess what it is, but it just works. My husband thought I was looney the first time I did it, but I told him to trust me, and he LOVES it. For measurements, on a roast that size, I would just put maybe 1/2 tsp to just shy of 1 tsp. Honestly though, I don't measure, I just sprinkle it lightly on the roast on all sides.

When I’ve cooked pinto beans I’ve always added a smoked ham hock. It gives a WONDERFUL flavor and after everything is cooked, I remove the ham hock, let it cool down, pick off the meat and add the meat back into the beans. 🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸

Pinto beans! It was a staple in our house growing up in WV. My dad was a coal miner so we called them miner beans..lol. Came in handy feeding 7 people, served with cornbread and fried potatoes. I still cook them even though I live in Georgia now. BTW I noticed that you kept the two tops you wanted in your clothing video. Good choice.
