Tried this for dinner tonight. Very good. Didn't think about the potatoes basically turning to mush when stirring everything together. Helps give it that nice thick texture.
I made this today but used only 2 cups of cheese. For my taste, it seemed to be missing something. Maybe onions, not sure. Now that it's sitting overnight in the fridge I will taste it again tomorrow to see if I have the same opinion.

Very creative ! That looks really good ! You could also add some broccoli ? When I do the water and bouillon thing, I combine it in the pot so all you have to do is turn the measuring cup over on the dish strainer to dry instead of having to wash it. Great looking soup ! I’d love to try it !

I don't really like thick chowders so I plan on using 2 tbsp of the cornstarch slurry. Should I still use the 4 cups of cheese or should I use less cheese as well?

I was so glad to see BtB ham base at my store! Ham base is hard to find around here. I use it to make ham and bean soup but I'll be trying this recipe this week!! Your recipes have never failed for me, so I know it'll be fabulous!! Also, you and Richard are a seriously adorable couple!

Jeff, the only thing I'd do different is FRY THAT HAM before entering it into the pot – get that carmelized flavor.
