If you’ve been following me and my recipes, you’ll know I’m obsessed with Chinese food by now. I’ve made SO many Chinese dishes already that I’d do my line of Jewish relatives proud.

And since I just love soup (have you tried my Hot & Sour Soup yet?!), I had to make another. It’s time to drop some eggs into a lovely, light chicken broth and make EGG DROP SOUP!

If you’ve tried my Stracciatella Soup, this is basically the Chinese version of that – ribbons of egg in a thick and soul-warming chicken broth. It also couldn’t be easier to make in the Instant Pot. I’m not even kidding, folks! This is one of the simplest things ever, takes no time at all and has a tremendously wonderful payoff!

I’m glad I found this recipe! I can’t count the times I bough a huge container of egg drop soup from our nearest Chinese restaurant to fight off a sore throat or the chills! So nice I can now make my own!!!

I'm making this tonight. Love me some egg drop soup. Going to leave out the scallions, though, as I've never really cared for them in the soup. Also, an alternative to chow mein noodles to top at the end is wanton strips. Love these, myself, and you can generally find them in grocery stores.

Thanks for all the recipes and clear step by step directions on your site! It's a primary source for me, as a relatively new Instant Pot user.

This is 'The Egg Drop Soup'. Absolute incredible flavor . . . no soy sauce needed. Would not change a thing. Sick of Instant Pot recipes offered everywhere for healthy or simple or 4 ingredients. No thank you. THANK YOU Jeffrey . . . you are the bomb, love your Jewish kitchen. Now I just saw your IP pastrami ~ can't wait to try it! Oh and your pineapple upside down cake!

My egg drop soup was a little too peppery. On the website I realized that the white pepper used if you wanted 'more zest'. I guess I was 'zested' out. But was pretty good. Recommend it to any instant pot users.

So I made a half recipe this morning with a few Paleo friendly adjustments, such as subbed tapioca starch and omitted season salt but overall this recipe turned out great! It was like ordering Chinese takeout! Loving my new Instant Pot!

This looks good. I am going to make it in about 2 hours. I was curious if doubling the recipe (4 cups is rather small for a party) would require increasing the cooking time. What do you think ?

My hubby isn't much into Egg Drop soups but he absolutely loves this one. With the 2 egg yolks left over from the recipe, I just drop it in whole. He loves it. You've been feeding into my soup cravings lately. 😛 Love love your soup recipes. Thank you so much Jeffrey for all the awesome recipes and videos. 🙂

Just discovered your channel this morning. I'm binge watching all the recipes. I don't have an Instant Pot yet, but I'm doing my research this week. I made this soup on my stove top for lunch today, and it was delicious. Thank you for sharing all your recipes. I can't wait to make the bread pudding with the whiskey sauce. I'm intrigued by the eggs you added to the sauce. I just subscribed to your Facebook page and your YouTube channel.

I enjoy your video recipes. I am a HUGE Fan of Egg Drop Soup. I am also a HUGE Fan of my Instant Pot. I like to add a little Vegetable Fried Rice to my Egg Drop Soup when I want a more hardy soup.
