I like that you are discovering & teaching younger people stuff we learned & lived, that are almost forgotten now. We grew & canned most everything. Convenience food was not around yet.

Yep, I save scraps for my worms & stock.
I have 2 kinds of worms in a garden tower thing, they make great fertilizer tea, and great soil. So I freeze my scraps and laugh that they will "get a brain freeze" if they eat too fast! (Only feed about once a week or less).

Yes, quart glass jars of broth take a very long time to thaw, and I am SO worried they will crack when I am moving them in my 'chest' type freezer!

Always look forward to watching your stuff. Going to show this one to my grown daughter!

I also do my stock this way, with all my leftovers from the freezer. I've never thought to sautee before adding the water, and I've never thought to use the instant pot! So funny on the celery. When I get celery I tear it all apart to clean it and the first thing I do is eat that white center with salt yum. My family used to fight over it on the relish tray 🙂 I got to go over and find that mustard recipe.

Girl, it drives me nuts to watch you stirring with a fork all the time. How can I send you some proper utensils like spoons and spatulas? I love making vegetable stock. I save all my vegetables trimmings in a bag in the freezer and make my stock when it's too full to fit any more stuff in it. 👍🏾 Parsnip is another staple I use in my broths.

One thing Al, over on Lumnah Acres does whilst making soups/stews is heat the water first. I've seen him boil it on the stove or heat it in an electric tea kettle. He says his InstaPot comes to pressure faster. ❤🌅🌵

verde sauce Verde means green. 🙂 I use up my leftovers into broth too. I don't know if you can handle cashews or pistachios…..but those would add a cool texture/flavor. Another thing that I do with veggies that are about to expire….but are still good…is to dehydrate them for our emergency pack. We live in a hurricane zone. I have a backpack full of dehydrated veggies that is as light as a feather. I take it with us when we travel just in case of an emergency. I have also taken the slop that is leftover and put it in the ground covered by dirt. I mix it once in a while….but it produces a lot of great soil to plant in. We have horrible soil near the beach…all sand…so this helps. Nice video. 🙂 These are things that our mothers and grandmothers taught us (the older generation) when we were kids. It is nice to see you passing it on!
