The dancing bonito reminded me of a horrible plate of udon where they put either bonito or something similarly flaky on it…sadly it made it look like the thick udon noodles were moving on the plate. Everyone at the table just stared at my plate and my friend pushed her plate closer to me to share because mine looked so unappetizing.

I bought some bonito flakes for my cat (this particular brand is a not-for-human-consumption cat treat) but I'll be damned if it didn't take all my effort not to eat them myself. They smell so so so good. Now I really want some ones for humans!

All that plastic WASTE for nothing! Okonomiyake batter is just egg and flour with water or stock anyway! Refuse the styrofoam, buy a packet of coleslaw mix instead, and btw make sure that the last minute or so of cooking on each side is without a cover so it's crispy! And you can buy a thing called "soup seaweed" that is a great vegetarian alternative to Bonito flakes. Just sayin. I do love your videos 😍 I will add some 5 spice to my sauce recipe (I've never had commercial okonomiyake) and here's another tip: I get wasabi flavoured kewpie mayo, which is SO good!

I want to see this bottom of the meal. It looked properly cooked, then flipped and cooked good, then re-flipped and cooked for five MORE minutes?!?!?!?!???? It didn't sound right to me and when I looked closely at the finished product it looked like there was a black layer underneath. I also noticed Emmy made extreme sure to only show us the top part of the "pancake"
I think it was burnt on the bottom. No offense Emmy, but if you want a real comment, then show both sides. Just sayin

You got me so curious about Kewpie mayo I had to find some. The only place I could find it was on the internet and it came in a package of 2. I am absolutely smitten with it. Thank you.

I've been looking for this online and I can't seem to find it! where did you get it? I'm a huge okonomiyaki nut and I'm having an awful time finding tempura bits – frying just little bits of tempura is the longest and most involved part of making okonomiyaki but I love it so much 😭

I have to question the “instant” nature of this. Instant cup noodles are instant because you just pour boiling water in and that’s it. This is basically just a tub of half the ingredients you need to cook something. It seems to me like shredding the cabbage and cooking it are the most labourious part of regular okonomiyaki

This looks so amazing! I really want to try it and I hope I'll find everything in my local asia store. It always seems Japanese love plastic. I mean don't they have bowls in their kitchen?

I think the absence of mayo and okonomiyaki sauce packages is a huge flaw of this product, because they assume their costumers (idk probably students, foreigners, or people who live in small households) would already have these bottles somewhere on their pantries/kitchen.

….. I guess people who already have mayonaise & okonomiyaki sauce on their fridges probably are well established enough to also have flour & the remaining ingredients that they don't really need to buy this product.

“3” – We had students from Japan 🇯🇵 stay with us in Canada 🇨🇦 almost every summer when I was a teenager. They would all almost always make this dish and miso soup for us. This brought back those memories – thank you 😊
