I don’t remember much about my grandma on my dads side of my family cause she passed when I was very young, but the one thing I remember of her was her chicken and dumplings. I’m going to have to try this recipe soon

Going to make a version of this tonight, but with a whole chicken in a large casserole pot in the oven (slow cook for a few hours and drop the dumplings in 20 mins before it comes out of the oven). Served with rice. Everything else will be from your recipe here. When it finally comes will be carved like usual, and the sauce it cooked in will be the gravy ^_^ Trying to find new ways to do the whole chicken as I usually just stuff it (I make the stuffing by hand) and roast it! Need something different tonight 😀

I grew up on rolled out square dumplings. The chicken was cut up and boiled in water with seasonings. When chicken was done the pieces were removed from the broth in the pot. The broth was brought to soft rolling boil and the cut dumplings were dropped in to the soft boiling broth. When the dumplings were done the chicken was added back to pot and simmered for a few minutes. Good eating! Yum. Not a big fan of dropped dumplings but I can deal with it. Going to try your method in my instant pot…it looks delicious.

My mother wont make it but she grew up eating this like once a week. Without going to ask her I'd say my grandmother likely dropped the biscuits. Not roll them out. But I'm going to be trying this on a stove top. Love me some dumplings and no one will make them for me lol

Would it be possible to show us how to make a good gumbo or jambalaya?

I was raised with rolled dumplings by my mom-mom, but having to make quick meals most nights to stay motivated to cook, i’ma have to try the drop method a few times and see how this turns out. Thank you for this vid. 💜

God bless your heart woman. I love that you are old school but add your own twist. I do the drop biscuit dumplings on the stovetop with my broth and that is what creates the gravy when they are cooking – Growing up mostly potato dumplings. My sister does rolled flat dumplings.

This was one of my fave meals my grandmother made but I haven't had it maybe 15 years, so long, and it looks closer to how hers looked than anyone I've seen so I'm def trying this. My 5 year old daughter is extremely picky and won't eat ANYTHING and I'm hoping this will be the magical recipe since I loved it as a kid. I'm seriously going insane trying to get her to eat food :/ but this looks absolutely delicious. Maybe she will eat your yams too.
