My favorite part of the old kitchen is the herb garden in recycled food containers that always seemed to give just the right amount of herbs necessary to make a dish exactly what June wanted.
I love watching June and Aaron on Budget Eats! She's inspired a lot of my "desperate meals" as they call them when I get down to the few dollars before the next pay day and not much in the pantry to work with. I love seeing Freddy's critiques as well. Reminds me of my dogs who are not afraid to sniff/gag at whatever I put in front of their faces lol.
IDK why cucumbers get bitter like that, but cut off the ends and it doesn't contaminate the whole.

When cucumbers, zucchinis, melons or pumpkins taste bitter they contain a toxin called Cucurbitacin. It’s toxic and you should immediately spit it out and throw it away.

Bitter tasting cucumbers and zucchinis are actually poisonous. You may not experience severe symptoms but sensitive individuals might. The bitter taste comes from a chemical called cucurbitacin. The toxicity from this chemical is sometimes referred to as “toxic squash syndrome”. Symptoms associated with this include diarrhoea, nausea and vomiting. It is better not to eat bitter tasting cucumbers and zucchinis.

I've been watching old episodes of budget eats the last few days hoping there would be a new one! I was SO happy to see another episode! I love how even though you did not have a whole lot of space in your kitchen you were able to produce so many awesome things!
