Good grief your full of baloney..i have a tried and true recipe my family gave me from.county Antrim and my granny was a good cook..and Ms Fancy elitist Narrator..its called stew and was based off an old dish called pottage…and it was a peasants dish till uppercrusty snotts…took it over and made it fancy schmancy like you're mis advising…and the stew your referring to with Moroccan spice is Tanjin and its an arabian dish similar to a stew..and sorry princess Not everyone can afford fancy cuts of meat..but left over pot roast and chopped cubed steak or even hamburger balls will do..but mash lady you sound like you don't do much real cooking..might get in the way of your manicure..but you don't need fancy ingredients to make a stinking stew…we just use 6qts of boiling water
    3cups of red oinion
    2cups of tomato sauce
    1cup worstershire
    4cups potatoes
a slurry of water and cake flour to thicken
    1 can of beer
    2cups black coffee
    2cups diced cabbage
    2cups diced carrots
    4cups corn
    4 cups peas
    3tbsp brown mustard
    4tsp paprika
    5tsp of salt
1cup sifted cake flour or sifted barely flour
    3cups cooked drained navy beans
    2cups quick barley
5cups of chopped skirt or cubed steak or pot roast pre cooked or fresh
Put in a crockpot on low n slow or in a kettle on medium hi for 5 hours or on low all day..fancy my dear that's a stew we've had in our family for ages..and no body complained about it…a grandma with serious cooking skills trumps an elitist food snob any day…my granny would roll in her grave listening to this malarkey..

My family prefers gravy like stew. It's gotta look and taste like roast beef gravy with wine. That is what I do. It's far from bland and cornstarch is how you get that lovely shiny look. Gravy is thick without being jelly like and it sticks to everything. Loose gravy is called beef soup.

Damn, been doing it wrong all these years, I’m 86 years old, I wish my grandmother, my mother and other cooks in my family were still here to find out what they did wrong in all their years when making stew. Can you give us another recipe that we were all doing wrong?
