I don't understand about the venting feature on the top. When pressure cooking, the cooker seals and then emits a constant stream of steam. Did I miss part of the instruction. Is it supposed to keep putting our steam? And the timer hasn't even started yet.

I would love this for cooking custards, caramels and chocolates. I would need a spare or second gasket liner since the original is likely going to take on a savory/onion like odor after using it for chili's and spaghetti sauce.

Thank you so much for your information!
After Thanksgiving Amazon had them on sale. I didn't know which one to get. The sales were so good I picked two of the 6qt. models. The Duo Plus and the Ultra. I need help with both of them!

This is a super video for a new instant pot user. I have to say the instruction booklet is poorly designed. I have a question: do you clean the anti-block shield and the silicon part of the float valve every time after use? I did several brown rice cook, 2.5cups brown rice with same 2.5cups of water. The first several times were perfect, but recently the steam constantly came out a lot right after the preheating. After that the screen showed ‘ burn’ and stopped cooking. I checked the anti-block shield and silicon part of the float valve, nothing stuck…

Is it suppose to be leaking steam in cook mode? I'm doing the initial test run and mine preheats then puts out a little steam during the end of that time but then when it switches to cook it steams a lot. Help.
It does have the little plastic thing attached to the back like you showed us.

Very helpful video. I do have one question, do you have to take off the sticker on the outside of the lid which talks about the steam valve and release? What about the sticker inside the heater telling you "caution"?

What is the lowest temperature in sous vid mode? I need to cook something at exactly 100 degrees Fahrenheit and I need to know if I can set it to that. I suppose I could use slow cook mode too. What is the lowest possible temperature in both of those modes? Thanks so much.

Thanks so much for taking the time to make this video. I agree with the others here, you made the most informative video I have seen. I watched a bunch. The hold in for 5 sec, would have taken me forever to figure out. Haha right there you earned your wages!

My Ultra 8QT is on its way and I'm looking forward to having fun eating everything that can fit in it.
On the trivet, I also thought that could be used with jars to make yogurt. I also see they have silicone steaming trivet kits available. A lace near by makes those Chinese pork buns, frozen to steam at home, have oyu tried anything like that, or to make yogurt? Do you use or recommend the steaming kit?

You mentioned popcorn… I need to see how thats done. I guess I' ordering covers too.

The primary reason I picked the Ultra version is because I can do sous vide. I love that idea that I don't have to buy a special souz vide heater to play with a couple times a year.

Two things I think should be emphasized a bit more, and on most Insta pot videos I have seen. That is the warning against steam burns by that exhaust valve. I've seen it on my daughters instapot and it can be dangerous, also point the steam away from your cabinets unless you want that steamy goodness to go into your cabinets. Second great point about the silicon gasket. Keeping the lid upside down to dry is a great idea. Id prob still pull mine out and let it sit lose till ready to use so anything inside will dry out. I heard many issues with that, but your idea makes most sense. I can only guess stinky is not good. Thanks again, you did a great job making and editing. I learned a lot.
