I have to say that I have been following Chef AJ's protocol for years now. I do not eat nuts, I do not eat seeds, I do not eat avocado. I eat a whole foods plant based diet with a minimum of 2lbs of dark greens daily and eat beans, soya for protein. My bloods are fantastic and I am in perfect health. Honestly, you don't need fat or oil to be healthy… I think that if you have issues with things like eczema, then supplementation can help, but in terms of food, I feel sugar, oil, and fat free is the way to go.

I have been vegan almost all my life and experienced optimal health but until I went whole-food-plant based I never realized how excellent my health could be. My last few health issues disappeared entirely. My current food plan consists 50% vegetables and 50% fruit. I do a half starch solution diet and half a Freelee Banana girl diet. I WAS a life long dieter, forty five years, and I was a pro at losing weight but then came my body's push-back/revenge. Knowing that I will never feel hunger again is the most freeing feeling I have ever experienced. I do wish that some of the influencers on You Tube would tout fruit more than they do.

When I'm in an "emotional state" and want to turn to food as a coping mechanism, I bargain with myself. I tell myself to eat my healthy food first (veggie soup, salad, oatmeal, potatoes). If after all that I still want to medicate with food, I then have to walk to the store and buy my "food of choice." I"ve never had to do that~ by the time I get to that stage, I've worked it through. Bargain with yourself ~ put more time between the urge and the actual binge. Time can help you call a friend, take a walk, think things through. Enlightening conversation ~ Janet

I recovered from Anorexia and laxative abuse. I established a healthy relationship with food when I went WFPB because I no longer had to restrict or live on "X amount of calories" a day. I eat in abundance. Recovery is possible, but it takes time ~ be kind to yourself. Into recovery in 2005, but WFPB in 2013. This was a great conversation ~ Janet

Wow that’s interesting what she says about only needing a small calorie deficit. Im not a big binge eater but sometimes I eat things that aren’t on point. I’m learning to notice if I’m hungry when I’m going out or even at home -and to make sure I get something to eat right when I start noticing I’m hungry. It helps tremendously. this is great info and helpful. Thank you
