This looks beautiful and yummy but FYI aluminum pots, plastic utensils, and nonstick pans are all bad for your health.
do not use aluminum cooking utensils.They dissolve slowly into your food.Change to stainless steel for longer life.alzheimer disease is the result of using aluminum cookware.please stay healthy.namaste.

I guess veggies and barely must be cooked separately and mixed as their cooking time differs (don't want veggies over cooked).

The water that was used to boil the barley need not be discarded. You can use it as broth for the soup. The water (broth) is equally nutritious & can be drunk as a herbal drink as well.
