I have always hated this! As a kid my grandmother would make us all sit around the table for days grinding literally hundreds of platanos for everyone in the family to have for dchristmas dinner! I used to cut my fingers

Hi I have a question for you. How do you avoid watery / soft pasteles when using the food processor? I even added one extra plΓ‘tano next time but again they came out so soft!

Boricua here from a 100% PR family and my mom has never been very helpful in teaching me to cook. We made pasteles last year (which were amazing) but they took us 8 hours to cook because she kept walking away from me πŸ™„ You've taught me so much already, Ida! Thank you for all of your recipes and helping me cook like a real boricua πŸ‡΅πŸ‡·

My grandmother made a few variations of pasteles; de masa, de yuca, de arroz, y de repollo. The cabbage ones were my favorite. Back then those were the only one I would eat and after she passed away, I didn’t eat them for years. Now I want to make a batch and this video was very helpful. Thanks Ida for all the great videos on how to make delicious Puerto Rican dishes.
