    Here is a REAL HINT that I got from an old Italina lady who came form Itally and had a restaurant in New Jersey. Leave some of the water in the pot from cooking the potatoes and heat the pot up again and mash the potatoes with the water really hot in the pot. This really does at so much more flavor and makes the potatoes naturally fluffy and then add the butter and combine it in the potatoes and then add can milk or half and half at the end. Super fluffy and so creaming POTATOEY tasting mashed potatoes.

    You didn’t show the inside of the pot before the potatoes were added, so my question is, “Do you put them into the pot without a trivet under them?” Other recipes show a trivet, so I wanted to make sure.

    I love my instant pot!!! This year for thanksgiving I decided to make my mashed potatoes in my instant pot, they were perfect BUT the one mistake I made was to transport my mashed potatoes in my instant pot to my mother in-laws house… when we got there, I opened the instant pot everyone got their potatoes my sister-in-law took a bite and made an awful face… I tried my potatoes and they were horrible!!! The milk in the mashed potatoes spoiled while we were on the way to my mother in-law’s house, so I guess I just want to say, if you make your mashed potatoes in the instant pot don’t transport them using the instant pot lid use the instant pot glass lid as the temp gets too hot if you use the original lid and it will spoil your mashed potatoes 😕 I was so embarrassed… lesson learned lol
