    Interesting! People in Sri Lanka also eat this same rice. They call it kuth arisi. It’s very popular in Sri Lanka.
    They also eat other rice too eg red rice.

    Thank you for this recipe Mam, I am from mangalore and we use red boiled rice too , but since it is hard to cook I use pressure cooker but never happy with the quality of the rice , it is starchy . But I wanted to clear a particular doubt , i.e how you reduced the flame or have you totally switched off the flame while you covered the pot with the tawa and left it for 30 min.

    I picked raw matta rice from a shop nearby which cooked faster than parboiled. What is your suggestion of the rice variety- should we opt for parboiled or raw matta rice?
