I did something today on a whim. I sauteed onions, added cabbage that was shredded but not too fine, then I let it cook until the vegetables were a little tender. I added some chicken bouillon about a tablespoon maybe less and some turmeric and black pepper. I then added water and let it cook until all vegetables were done and soft. After I served it in a bowl I decided to sprinkle it with cinnamon just to see what it would taste like and it was delicious. Oh I forgot to say that, that was half of a head of cabbage and I also used about 3/4 of a teaspoon of turmeric.

Another thing you can do is cook the onions, garlic, and ginger and then put them in a blender with some of the slightly warm veggie stock and then add some veggie stock to the pan and get everything out and then dump in the blender and blend for a few minutes and then add to the pan. Then I added the rest of the veggie stock into the blender and ran it again to get everything out then I dumped in the pumpkin and blended it up with the stock and then dumped it all in the pan and then I added Coconut Cream to it and it was all โ€œVegetarianโ€.

Hello Jamie, love this recipe for it's simplicity & quickness.
I will take you up on the heavy cream option adding more viscosity/body to the soup.
Thanks for sharing your family recipe.

Oh wow! I was looking for something different to do with my 48 oz of pumpkin in a can ๐Ÿ˜‚. I get tired of pumpkin muffins, and I'm not that crazy about pumpkin pie. Thank you for this recipe.
