I made this soup tonight with the mixed grain rice and red lentils I had on hand. Red bell pepper and used vegetable broth because I am tying to find some meat free recipes to keep in my repertoire. This soup is definitely a keeper. Thank you for posting it.

Chef Albert I made this tonight, really delicious. There are some ingredients I added, I know you are not a fan of. I had some things I wanted to use up so I added some celery and red bell pepper to the vegetables. I had a little sausage I wanted to use, diced and sauteed and added. I used chicken stock instead of vegetable. I added a splash of Worcestershire, and hot sauce. I used basmati rice because that's what I have. You need to mention how many people this recipe feeds because it makes a lot and we will have it again tomorrow night. Hope you are feeling better.

Very nice recipe but I think it's reverse of better cooking order. Cook the rice and lentils together or separately first. When they are done, throw everything else into a big pot and heat through together with the lentils and rice for a few minutes

This dish is very close to a dish called "Bisi Bele bath" (translates to hot lentil rice dish) that is prepared here in Karnataka (an Indian state). Only difference is we use tamarind instead of tomatoes for the tangy taste and the spice mix is actually a mixture of 10 different spices, which would up the antioxidant power like crazy! 😁
These simple heart-warming bowls of rice are the best kind!

Could you list the ingredients and methods in the video subscription?

May not be your thing, but for the cooks that just hit videos for the yummies and can understand, we subscribe, but may wish to skip the whole video sometimes..

I watch a lot of videos on cooking, and I will finish your video if I don't know a technique, say for Indian or Chinese food, but I can skip soome of the video.

Still, I like having the video with the recipe in case my mind/memory fails!

    Anyways, awesome channel.

You should have taken the time off and rest. Give your Body a break and let yourself heal.
We love your channel and recipies but I think we would surive a week or two without one. Get well soon.
Great Soup idea, but is there a reason why you don't put the rice earlier into the soup, so that rice and lentils are ready at the same time? Aren't the lentils mushy with another 20 min on top till the rice is done?

    Yum, love lentils.
I was also sick last month and had that horrible headache for at least three days. Liquid and rest.
Too sick to cook had Amy's canned lentil soup (I hate canned soup) it was edible.
Will try your delicious looking recipe.

Sorry to hear you're sick. As for your recipe, it looks aMAzing! There's nothing like lentil soup in the winter, and it's one of my go-to recipes when it's cold. Thank you for showing different spices to use instead of using poultry seasonings (it is soooooo yummy that way, too).
