During the Depression I had a chocolate cake it only used eight ingredients it was no egg
It was called wacky cake also they called it depression cake my mom used to make it quite often and it fed all 6 of us for dessert
It was one of my sons favorites so every year I would make it with his birthday
In Peru they call hot dogs and potatoes Salchipapa!
With the cake, you need to put it in the oven quickly but gently, ie without popping all the bubbles in it. The vinegar activates the raising agents which produce those bubbles. I make that recipe too, and it’s delicious! 👍
You didn’t say how much vinegar was in the cake recipe ?
