    Hi, Mrs. V
I've got one I discovered the other day. Save the sleeves/wrapper from crackers, like saltines and ritz, things like that. They're waxed and pretty sturdy. You can line plates to save water, wrap things with them, pretty much whatever you'd use wax paper for. It also just made me think of things us teens came up with in the 90s/early2000s. People would save their capri sun pouches or juice boxes and make bags and containers. I'm wondering if maybe the cracker paper would work for that too.

I have purchased solid long sleeve shirts, in various colors, from Walmart for $2 in summertime. I just layer a cute short sleeve shirt over the solid long sleeve. The kids like that style and it's cheap, plus uses the short sleeve shirts from summertime all winter

Anytime I go to a fast food or convenient store that has packs of ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise etc, I get as much as I can. I keep them in a smallish container with a lid and use them for family cook outs and take camping

I save all my peels and cores from apples and freeze in plastic bags and after I get enough to fill a stock pot I cover it with water and simmer about 1-2 hours do not smash your pulp. I strain it and you can drink it as apple juice or turn it into apple jelly which I do and I add a bit of cinnamon.

During hot weather if you have electricity and no ac dampen hand towels or old dish towels and bend in a u shape and freeze, place this around the back of your neck. As it melts, just toss it back in the freezer. We used to do this for players in the dug outs

Dearest, I had a wring washer many years ago. We live in the country and I had the washer out by the clothes line. Lots less lugging and I just wheeled it into the shed. My neighbors said I was nuts, but I saved a tons of money. Love from New Hampshire!! Always, Selena

To clean the garbage disposal, stuff a bunch of ice cubes down there let it run for a little bit start adding a little water, then you'll see all the crap come up it's all black and nasty looking. Then rinse, follow through with some vinegar and baking soda and rinse again. The ice cubes are breaking up all the scum and everything that's in that chamber. It works really well

I have a quart jar of pickle juice in the refrigerator. It is purposely for cleaning stainless steel kettles. My husband burned the inside of a kettle and just a few days ago, I burned the same one. Each time I put about a half cup of pickle juice in the stainless steel kettle and brought it to a boil, boiling for about two minutes. I then took a scrubby with a little detergent and the kettle is back to normal!

I’m an American living in Mexico. A lot of Mexican women use Zote bar soap. They slice it, and use a chunk or two tied in a mesh bag. I use a leftover plastic veggie bag. They use this for laundry detergent (and many other cleaning chores) and remove it before the rinse cycle. My laundry looks and smells nice and clean. Zote is also available in most grocery stores in the US; it’s sometimes located on the very top or the very bottom of the store shelves, so it is easy to overlook. The last time I was home (this past April) it was about $1.25 USD per bar, and really, any bar soap can be used this way.

Thought of another tip (I’m all for easy frugal living😁). Before putting a new roll of toilet paper on the holder, smash the whole roll mostly flat. This keeps the roll from spinning endlessly…..especially for the grandkids who might be visiting! It may be annoying when rolling paper off but it makes you conscious of how much you are using.

here is a tip to use up every last bit from jam from the jar. pour a bit of milk into the jar , put the cap back on and shake
to remove all remaining jam bits from the sides, then pour into an ice pop mould and freeze for a creamy fruity desert.

also, when the creamy style salad dressing is finished, get one last bit of dressing from it by pouring a bit of milk into the bottle . Shake vigorously, and you have a serving of two more. This is how to stretch that money a little further. every bit counts.

I'm with you Bev! I hate these new washing machines. There suppose to save water and run twice as long or longer than the older ones! When I first had to buy one of these I had a young man telling me how I should do my wash! Bunch them in a ball and throw in washer. Hate them!

Mrs Wolfie – I would love an old fashioned washer-wringer too! They cleaned so much better. Also, we save lightly used paper towels to clean up little spills on the floor.

You can use a wash cloth with shampoo to wash hair place a towel under head and use the wash cloth to lather hair rinse wash cloth well and rinse hair with washcloth a few times until all the shampoo is out. Works well when you can't get out of bed. The longer the hair the longer it takes.

I'd heard with fresh eggs that you should never wash them… She said that they had a natural coating on them that keeps the fresh longer

I don't know if it is correct.

Yes!!!! I make my own laundry soap bar using my grandmas recipe. I found a wringer washer for $75 and works amazing. I’m only 44. My mom used one until I was 13. Every Saturday I did laundry for 6 of us (my mom was to tired from her 5th pregnancy). I’m in heaven now 🥰 it’s very peaceful to do laundry in a wringer washer.
For lady cloths, I have about 20 of them I made. I wash laundry every 3 days.

I cut up old towels that get holes and use them for rags. A small zigzag stitch around the edges before I cut them apart keeps the rags from fraying out. Love all the tips. I learn something new each time.

I take my old tea, either loose or with the tea bag ripped open after use and put it in my compost bin outside. It feeds my compost, which in turn, helps my little container gardens grow.

Mrs. Bev, here is home remedy that my paternal grandfather taught me years ago. I thought he was nuts, but it actually works. (His mom and grandmother used it as well back in the day before anti-diarrhea meds were on the market)—Blackberry juice!—sounds crazy, but it actually works. I took a cup of my frozen blackberries that I picked the previous summer, thawed them, then squeezed the juice out. The sweet-tart flavor makes it easy to drink and after a couple of cups of this juice, it stopped the "backdoor trots."

When serving a can of veggies, remove a tablespoon off of the top and add to a freezer bin for soup making later. YOu will never miss that 1 tablespoon and they add up!

When peppers are cheap or in the garden prolific, cut them in strips and freeze in a single layer. I then put in a ziplock to store in the freezer. If I want to make stuffed pepper casserole, I put a layer on the bottom with sauce, add my meatballs and then a layer of strips and sauce on the top. Great flavor and the peppers go far. Also good in stir fries.

And for a new Grandy: stained cotton diapers should be washed and dried and layed on the grass in the sun to whiten them. It really works. My mom taught me it is a combination of the sun and the chlorophyll in the grass.
