I batch cook on weekends, when electricity is cheaper. Then reheat servings of e.g. lasagna, on weeknights when it’s expensive. I also use the stove top pressure cooker a lot. Defrosting frozen items in the fridge, if I remember in time, means the cold coming off the frozen food helps the fridge to not work as hard. Every little bit helps!

One of the many things we did when we lived in NY was to leave the oven door open after baking something in it. Heats up the kitchen and dining room very nicely. We also wore extra clothing

Great video and congratulations to the lucky winner of your generous giveaway…exciting.
The cold season arrived quickly this year…Love that I can bake again since it doubles to help warm up the house. Lol
Time to rotate clothing and get out all the sweatshirts, jackets, socks, boots, etc…..
    Have a great week.

Use instant pot, older nuwave oven, air fryer as much as I can. Hang clothes out in warm weather. Dryer very early morning or late night, if I must use it. Loved the recipes. Have you tested a toaster oven. Trying my best to talk a friend to use that instead of her oven

I just stumbled upon the video for Kate and being frugal for the holidays. and she linked me to you. Boy have I been missing out this last year. My hubby and I were also able to retire early debt free (living in Montana) and I am always looking at ways to help reduce the grocery budget and be frugal and save money. I am starting to go back and watch all your other videos. May God bless you and keep the awesome videos coming!!! xoxo

My hubby and I spent our Sunday doing all things Emmy and Paul! We had open ingredients on our baking shelf so I made peanut butter chocolate chip cookies (they were Nate Approved 👍). Then we had rolls that were almost out of date so we made your "french bread" pizzas and put them in the freezer to eat at a later date. The final most time consuming event of the day was a complete inventory of our pantry and our freezers. it was definitely eye opening to see everything we have and don't have. Thank you both for all of your tips and tricks!

Air fryer instead of oven. Sweaters, blankets, lights off. Thermostat down a couple degrees from last year and if gas goes up too much a couple more at night and an extra blanket, but refuse to freeze.

I live alone and so I cook up several meals at once. Then for the next few days, I just heat up a. Portion in the microwave. Better than using so much power on my electric stove to cook 3 separate meals!

Congratulations to LadyD! 🎉 Another lovely video. I’m going to try that chocolate salami! Looks incredible! And stew, well it’s that time of year for sure. As for saving on electricity we do all the frugal things: turn off lights, full loads of laundry, use clothes line, use small toaster oven whenever possible. Many years ago we had a timer put onto our hot water heater and that made a huge difference that we never notice. Blessings 😘

I have solar panels, so I try to do my laundry during the day when the sun is shining. It's almost free then. Saving on gas is more urgent here in Europe. I close all my curtains as soon as the sun goes down, to prevent any cold from the windows cooling down my house. I try to use my central heater as little as possible, I'll turn it on if the temperature in my house gets to 17 degrees Celsius. I'll heat up to 19 degrees, then turn the heater off again. It'll stay relatively warm for a few hours.. I wear two sweaters if I have to, and cosy up with a blanket on the couch. I have two minute showers and don't use gas-heated water for anything else than that. I'll be replacing my windows for more insulating ones in february.

I so thought the choc salami was actual choc dipped salami (meat) 😂 Haven’t heard of this in Australia.
We just left winter behind but I’m still watching videos and prepping for next year as our electricity prices are going up another 35% (total rise of 55% which is not small). I bought a heated throw rug that is like an electric blanket but for use sitting around. Lots of people in the uk are raving about them.
I have a kilowatt meter too. I swapped a few of my appliances lately to lower wattage including my coffee machine (1800 watts to a 750 watt single serve siphon design), got a 400ml camping kettle (300 watts vs. my tea kettle at a whopping 2400 watts) and my microwave (got one that’s 700 watts vs. 1000 watts).
The difference is huge if you use lesser wattage items if you can, or at least know so you adjust the time you use higher wattage appliances to work with your cheaper time of use electricity rates.
