This reminds me of my Slovak grandmother making haluski, fried cabbage with bacon and egg noodles, for my sister and I growing up. It's a recipe that was passed down from her mother who was an immigrant from Slovakia at the turn of the 20th century. It's a recipe I still love to this day.
Looks delicious. Another way I love cabbage is cut into wedges, wrapped loosely in foil and cooked on the grill.
One of my favorite cabbage meals is boiled cabbage, boiled eggs, cucumbers, and saltine crackers….I craved this when I was pregnant and my daughter loves it, too 😊💜
I love salt pork on homemade buttermilk biscuits .
That meal looks sooo good!!!! My mom use to make cornbread and beans like that. We always called it fatback. Mom would sometimes just slick it up and fry it. It was so good fried! She steamed her cabbage more than fried it. I have a question. I had blanched my cabbage last year because I had so many and didn’t have any place to store it so I froze them. Can I fry that frozen cabbage up like you did and it taste right? I know it won’t be crunchy like fresh would be, but just concerned about the texture.
I use bacon grease, crumbled fried bacon, a little sugar, salt, and crushed red pepper. Cook it to a slight bite. We like a little bit bigger cut.
I make this all the time! Found out I can get my family to eat cabbage by doing this.
Looks so delicious. Thanks for showing how easy it is fry cabbage
Need some Mayo on those soup beans lol.
My favorite meal pinto beans and fried cabbage with cornbread, I have 3 of the old pressure cookers and used them for years I recently got a insta pot and usually cook my beans in it but since I still have my old pressure cookers I might start using them again seems like the beans taste better I live in the mountains of East Tennessee and I love the old fashion way to cooked beans in a pot all day there the best
You fry your cabbage to the exact level/texture I like. This meal is perfect for a winter supper. And if it were summer, just sub the pickled veggies for some fresh sliced tomatoes and cucumbers. Can’t go wrong no matter the time of year lol.
🤤🤤🤤🤤
Brown cabbage mom melted sugar in pan until it caramelize then add cabbage, tb of cider vinegar yum
I love cabbage instead of salad or in a greens salad
My husband won’t even TRY it!!

Great with caraway seed
Mom was from Denmark and so many variations on fried cabbage. Both white & red!
MMM … any food that you make looks yummy! My Grandma was from Eastern Europe. She made cabbage by shredding really small, putting salt on it, let it sit and then went to squeezing the water out of the cabbage. Then cooked slowly in butter. My Grandma would also put home made noodles in the cabbage but it was so goood. Thank you for your recipe!
Always enjoy your videos always reminds me of growing up. Cabbage is one of my favorite vegetables and I eat it often. Your supper looks so delicious and my favorites 🤗
In the Ozark Mountains we like to have fried potatoes with our beans and cornbread. And fried cabbage is a family favorite as well ❤️
I love cabbage fried in whatever fat is available at the time and cooked still firm, but browned slightly.
My favorite way to eat cabbage and cooked just like you, that's the way my mama did it.
Nannies cabbage soup. Half head of cabbage, 6 med potatoes cut into good sized cubes, quart of tomatoes and a little onion of you like it. Salt and Pepper. Cook until taters and cabbage are done then add tomatoes. get hot and add a cup of milk. Serve with cornbread and lots of pepper. Warm you through on a cold winter day.
Nanny used a little bacon grease or lard.
Get you some Knorr chicken granules and cook in your beans. Careful it's salty!

I get a weird craving for fried cabbage at times. As a kid I had soup beans, fried cabbage and corn bread often. A Russian Jewish lady I went out with few years ago did not think Americans ate cabbage for some reason and was amazed at how much I liked it. She would make fried cabbage with a little sauerkraut and bowtie macaroni mixed in.. She would drown it in sour crème and fresh dill. Was amazingly good!
That is a fine Southern Meal! That is something my Mama made alot she was from Floyd County Ky. Family was German English Scott And that was a meal 🙂 we would have a lot. God Bless y'all
Raw cabbage and crackers… haha, Miss Tipper! Thanks!
Your meal is like we eat 😋 would like to know how long Matt cooked the beans in the pressure pot? I love fried cabbage also Thanks for sharing 👍
YUM! ❤️💯I like raw cabbage too. I slice mine thin and eat it. Sometimes I'll put some diced raw apples with it and top it with honey-mustard dressing. Never do I get tired of it. My mom-in-law is part Finnish. She taught me to make "Haluske" which is cabbage fried in bacon grease with onions.. Salt and pepper… And when it's tooth some you add boiled/rinsed macaroni.. When it's mixed good you add the crispy bacon bits that was taken out before so you had just the grease in the pan. I was amazed the first time I ate it and I have been amazed every single time since then at how something so simple could taste so delicious😊
That looks delicious! I love fried cabbage.
I love fried cabbage I cook my down a little longer ❤
Your dinner looks delicious. I've never had fried cabbage but that will soon change. Thank you.
