What type of scale are you using?
Sounds good and close to my favourite recipe. Question: when I take lid off my Instant Pot for burned food, I have to let the machine cool way down before I can "throw" the lid back on. Is this not how my Instant Pot should be working?

Try adding boiling water to the bag to rehydrate. Clip it shut, shake after 5 and perfect after 10 mins.
I have done chili, and it is great when you rehydrate with boiling water, so that it is hot still when it is rehydrated. Same with american golash.
Beans or no beans. Big debate down here in Texas. No beans in my chili.
What is the make and model number of the scale?
i love freeze drying chile. it works out great.
This will sound weird but adding one tablespoon of unsweetened cocoa powder creates a smoothness to the chili that is unbelievable. Been doing it for years. Tried it once and will never forget this ingredient again.
I like, adding some molasses to my chili.
