I always wore high heels Marla because at just 5ft 1" I was by far the smallest in my family and very self conscious about what I regarded as a defect! How foolish of me… God made me but I thought he had done me a disservice so I wore heels until now I struggle to walk even in bare feet because of severe arthritis. I probably would have developed arthritis anyway because it is in the family genes but now when I am in pain I curse my younger self for being so vain. I can no longer wear heels nor can I tie shoelaces but I do wear soft slip on shoes with velcro in the house and my brother ties the laces on my "proper" shoes for times he takes me to appointments. I do agree completely with wearing shoes to get things done and it is much safer to wear them indoors too than those flippy floppy things that could cause falls. I like to wear a particular apron too and feel like I'm in switched on mode when I'm dressed appropriately and have my shoes on for housekeeping. I have a waterproof apron that I wear for laundry, bathroom and kitchen cleaning and then my cotton and linen ones for baking and cooking. I'm 62 so I suppose I am a bit old fashioned but I find my habits and routines strangely comforting. I expect that's why I love the flylady system so much and am proud to be a flybaby in my retirement. I always was very domesticated and good at running the house and all that goes with that but as my dear late mum always said I was too much of a perfectionist for my own good. Now with age and health issues I have been delighted to find that following flylady helps me to keep everything nice without overdoing things. ❤ God bless you Marla and all your fly team, male and female who help us all so much.
