Apples have pectin. The old homesteads all had apple or crabapple trees. I have made pectin and canned it from our crabapple tree. I took the apple scraps and made apple cider vinegar

My crock pot quit getting hot and cooking after 24 years, it was a wedding gift 😊 and I waited one year to see if I missed it and after two years, still don't miss it I really thought I would but these recipes look so good, but I would skip the cider way to much work….

I'm going to try that chili recipe. That looks good! I freeze dried my apple peels. They came out so good! I didn't want to throw away the peels so I googled recipes. I put sugar & cinn on them with a little butter then baked. They came out very good, almost like chips. They I freeze dried some. Same outcome. Very good. Try it.

A time saver for onions is chop them all up, flash freeze in single layers on baking sheets with parchment paper and then put in freezer ziplock bags and now when you need chopped onions just pull some out.

We do that with our peels and cores every year. We use the juice to make apple jelly. If you let it hang in a jelly bag or in the cheese cloth overnight (gravity works!) you will have a clearer product than if you squeeze it out. You can also can the cider in a water bath canner for drinking all Winter long! If you're worried about the acid content being too low (diff varieties of apples have diff pH), you can add a tsp of lemon juice to each 1L jar that you water bath process.

The cowboy chili looks so delicious! Never used the chili packets like those so how hot is it compared to regular chili powder and cumin in a homemade chili? Your cider WOW, awesome 😍!
