Need to make some meals on an extreme grocery budget? Here are two rice and bean recipes using the same ingredients, different spices, all for 73 cents or less per serving!

    Here's what I bought:

    -2-pound bag of brown rice
-1-pound bag of dried pinto beans
    -2 cans diced tomatoes
    -3 green bell peppers
    -1 bag of onions

I made two separate recipes out of these and still had plenty of rice and onions left over for other things.

Tip from me! I cannot digest onion and husband cannot digest peppers. I chop up onions and peppers and put them in ziplock bags (at least overnight) in the freezer, and then take them out right before cooking. Much easier to digest 😀 I usually have easier access to borlotti beans, those are delicious 😀
