My parents would get so mad at me when I did this, I only did it at home and never in front of other people, I love hearing that I wasn't weird for this and it's a thing people do

I don't get why most people are completely fine with eating burgers, pizza, tacos, and other stuff like that, and yet some people find it weird with other foods. I remember when I was younger I would eat with my hands, sometimes using a fork, but when I went to a restaurant, my parents would have to keep telling me to use the fork 😂. I wish people's traditions, culture, and techniques, should be shared and more accepted through food.

I think it’s gross and unhygienic. I travel a lot and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve witnessed women leaving public restrooms without even washing their hands. In all different countries, different airports, different restaurants and eateries. Then touch everything with dirty hands, eat and sometimes even cook for others. All kind of crap gets stuck underneath your nails. Nasty

Yeah eating foods especially rice and curry with bare hands is pretty nice. I'm from Bangladesh and here people of all types eat foods by hand, even if your hand turns yellow because of turmeric used in the curry😅

Nah man I can't, I'll eat certain food with my hands like pizza, chicken wings or burgers, I don't get people that use cutlery with that. But I feel the messiness of touching food that falls apart or is covered in sauce like that just irks me so much I can't enjoy the food anymore.

You really don't have to justify cultural practices to colonizers. They came to Asia, Africa because they had no food, no spices, no flavor in Europe— only pigs to eat.

Damn Shame that Indians have absorbed colonizers mindsets and are now better colonizers than ther originals!!

    Ask again what???

People from Delhi and western UP specifically have not looked favourably on eating with hands. It’s not safe to generalise in India, but people from Delhi have traversed the spectrum from being aghast to mocking when I eat with hands. South Indians are more likely to eat with hands than some Northerners.

Also many Indian food were made to be eaten with your hands and subsequently way harder if you try to use cutlery. Eating Naan or chapathi with a fork just sounds like a mess waiting to happen. Meat and fish curries are often made including the bones so watching someone try to eat that with utensils is the same sort of pain you would feel watching someone try to eat wings with a spoon.
