That's a good recipe. I like to add a tbsp of red chili flakes for a little kick.

Nicely done recipe Jaxx. I bet it took for ever when you had to split on the peas, lol. Some reason my wife doesn't like peas. I miss cold pea salad! Oh yea, that looks really good Jaxx. A good winter soup!

Over here in Holland I normally use finely cubed porkbelly (pre cooked to low medium crispy) and saute the veggies in the rendered fat from the belly.
Adding the extra spices like the paprika and safran is something we over here normally do, but on my next splitpea cook I'm definitely going to make a hybrid version.
And at the end top it off with some smoked sausage and some fine bread and butter.
That's a great dish to take the chill off this winter, and warm the soul! Looks great Jaxx!
