for a vegetarian/vegan version to get the smokey flavour without needing to use smoked meats- try liquid smoke, smoked paprika or smoked salt as they are generally found in most supermarkets!

Just a note – a lot of times when you freeze soups with milk in them, they separate a little when reheated and can look a little grainy. They taste just as delicious though! 😊

This could easily be made vegan by swapping the meat for a smoky flavoured seitan sausage (mockmeat), and the milk with cashew cream or another plant milk. :). Thank you for sharing this recipe it looks like a good soup for using up some leftover veggies and pantry goods!

this soup is so delicious, Ive made it several times from your cookbook, had never used chipotle peppers before but cant imagine this recipe without it.. I often use a little cubed ham.. whenever we are having company & I'm trying to think of something to make this is always my hubby's suggestion he loves it & so far everyone else has also… thank you!! Stay healthy.. Blessings!

I've discovered frozen mirepoix mix which is celery onion and carrot and then Cajun mirepoix mix is frozen peppers onions and celery. I'll still be buying it even when I can find fresh peppers or celery again.

I had everything to make the vegetarian version of this! Only substitution I had to make was Chile powder and smoked paprika instead of the chipotle. Turned out great, and filled three pint jars after my spouse and I had our dinner.

Good idea to get cameraman in front of the camera – invite him to be the instructor, and you film the episode! No?
OK, he can stay safely on Instagram! You're doing as well as usual without the whole team, keep going as you are.
Hope everyone is safe, and eating well

I have been returning to the old video recipe for smoky corn chowder several times, pretty recently made it actually and I absolutely adore it. Its so warm and comforting and tasty. Always end up eating quite a lot. I buy chipotle peppers just for this chowder. <3 <3

OMG! I never would have believed I would be tempted to try a corn chowder recipe. I love corn, but I hate creamed corn and always thought that corn chowder would be similar to that. However, your recipe certainly looks alien to creamed corn so, I'm definitely going to give this one a try! πŸ‘πŸ˜Š

Great looking corn chowder, Sara Lynn! It looks awesome! The only thing I don't have is chipotles, so I will substitute it with chipotle Tabasco and make this for dinner tomorrow. Thank you so much for the recipe! Stay safe and well! πŸ’œ
