Love the receipe. The best video ever. Quick and dirct to the point. Explained and showed everything, and step by step. And not a lot of unnecessary talking. Direct to the point. Will make this today for the family dinner, but will make the filling a little more loose, dont want it to dry, so I would need a little more broth/ gravy. 😁💖✌

Dude… this is an incredible recipe along with the apple and vanilla custard pie recipes! I made this yesterday and it was the first time my pie pastry turned out well. Even though I did over-bake it a bit and the filling was a bit too dry, my wife said it was THE BEST chicken pot pie she ever tasted!
I was having trouble with over-working dough that didn't have enough moisture content – it wasn't until I went by weight instead of a measuring cup that I had success with the pastry and I might even go with a smidge more water next time. Another problem I had was working dough that was too cold.

I had no experience/frame of reference so even with good directions I had to be patient and keep trying. Good things to do would be to keep precise notes of how much water/flour you use on each attempt/miserable failure (a measuring cup is 'NOT' a good thing to use for flour) and how long to let the dough warm back up before you try to roll it out after it's been in the fridge.

This was totally delicious. I made it with leftover smoked turkey and bone broth. I skipped the peas because I like frozen white corn kernals better, and used whole milk instead of cream.

I made this yesterday. Next time, I’ll cut back on the thyme and add more salt, pepper, and perhaps a pinch of cayenne. Need to roll the top layer dough a bit thinner too. Otherwise this is a freakin’ hearty dish! Perfect to bring a friend recovering from an illness or broken leg.

Out of all the videos I've seen on YouTube, specifically for Chicken Pot Pie, this is THE ONE that I will be making. Thank you so much! I love the simplicity of your video and the instruction. Simple and to the point! I can't wait to finally make one from scratch!

What can I do to make it have extra gravy in it? I’ve made one before and my husband said he wanted less veggies and more gravy!! I do add fennel to mine and like it too. Please help me with the extra gravy issue!! Thank you!!

Well,I just made this pie and can I say. Yum, yum yum. The pie crust, absolutely perfect. ( my mother in law thought it was store bought). The filling came together beautifully. I have to say every single thing I have made from John has been really tasty. No mess ups and everything comes out as directed.. You are a great cook/ baker…
Thank you for another great recipe…..

This recipe right here. This, I’m calling the best, and I’m a chicken pot pie connoisseur 😀 I’ve been known to make excellent chicken pot pies. What makes this recipe great is the measurements, excellent meat to vegetables ratio. And it was an excellent idea to sautée the vegetables before and make the roux right there with the vegetables, why didn’t I think of that? 😄 I substituted chicken for turkey chunks form last night (Thanksgiving) and voilà! Delicious. Thank you!

This is almost exactly my recipe except i always put in a generous portion of chopped mushrooms. It's absolutely delish! I've also made it with some leftover roast beef chopped into bits and that comes out great also. Pot pie is a great way to clean out your fridge while making something yummy that seems planned but is really just put together with leftovers. 😋

I am so happy you used a bottom crust and a top crust for you pot pie! I very strongly dislike those who only use a top crust. When I make Shepherd's or Cottage Pies I use a bottom crust even though the top is mashed potatoes. Great video 👍
