This works better if you put the crockpot on warm if youre going to do 8 hours. The egg gets done without being overcooked and the sides are firm but not burned or hard.

That's really a full breakfast..so easy! I've only made stews in my crock pot, and really nice beef pepper steak..I'll have to try this soon! You're right about the slow cooker..here in Texas you can get one with a lift out crock for about $20, and it seems to last a long time! This recipe..it's a bit much for just my daughter and I, but I could take some servings for lunch too! ☺☺☺

This might very well be my favorite recipe of yours so far and that's saying something with the amazing food you have been showing us lately. I'm happy as we brought a slow cooker months ago and haven't used it yet! Now I'm looking forward to it. Thanks a lot Todd.

That is so cool Todd, that I must try that. I crocked a meaty smoked ham bone overnight with water, cooking onion, chunks of carrots and whole black peppercorns. Now all I have to do is strain ham broth, separate the meat from the nasty bits and throw in a few handfuls of washed yellow split peas into the pot. Making French Canadian yellow split pea soup. YUM. I hate the German version, made with green split peas. Makes me want to spin my head like Linda Blair aka Exorcist movie. LOL
