I enjoyed this video so much. I’ve never made a gumbo with okra before, and I was hoping there was a faster way to smother it down, which is how I found this. Really helpful, thank you so much!
I'm from South Alabama.. We cut our okrie up just like ya'll do! Been wondering how to cook my okrie in my Ninja or I-Pot ! Thank you for making this! Love to see how you make your gumbo! Much love from Frisco City, Ala!🤩
I use frozen okra with these instructions at 30 minutes and it works out fine. Thank you! P.S. I'm in Baton Rouge, we say "okrie" too and do not use the tops. I pick them out every time 🙂
I am completely from the south born and raised. I love boiled okra. I just received an instant pot. How can I cook the frozen whole pods to turn out as if I boiled them HELP!!!
Thank you! I was wondering where you were from because we always said "okrie" too but since I've been in Texas for a LONG time now, I say "okra". I'm making okra gumbo today (no roux) and was trying to figure out how to cook my okra down in the instant pot. Now I know.
Watching you cut okra is bring back so many memories of my mom and my sisters cut and freeze okra. I am from Opelousas, La not far from Baton Rouge. Enjoyed your video and thanks for sharing.
I refer to this video every time I need to prepare okra for a recipe. Thank you for posting. I'm in Louisiana and grew up here, so I love listening to you too.
Thank you!!!! I am from Louisiana. I just got an instant pot and I've been trying to figure out how to incorporate it into my cooking life by using the pot rather than the stove. Most of the recipes I've been seeing are nothing like what we eat so it's been hard. Please keep making these!

Thank you so much for making this video! This is so much easier and won’t heat up the house.
Thank you so much for sharing this recipe. It is just what I needed
Did you add water? I didn’t see that part if you did.

Can you use frozen OKRA
This was a great presentation. You should make more videos about Cajun/Creole cooking!
Question: do you feel the need brown this at all at the end?

Thanks so much! I love okra and tomatoes right along with crab gumbo, but never did it in my I-Pot. Best wishes from the Houston area!
