I used to make turkeys all the time in my twenties and use a roasting pan with a lid, I used to set it and forget it and not open the oven. They were very good. My problems started once I used an open roasting pan with foil. The turkey never gets done because I'm opening the oven too much. I realized roasting the turkey with a lid is not really the correct way to do it. I guess you're steaming the turkey more but I think I just have to go back to this method. Any advice is appreciated from anyone. I really need to get another remote thermometer.

Thanks Lisa Dawn for this video. I was watching it when I was waiting for my turkey to get done. It was actually half a turkey I couldn't get a lot of info on cooking it. It took longer than expected to get done.

New subbie here, well fairly new.
You did very well indeed. Here's to another Thanksgiving meal under your belt as I say. I've got thirty three and counting.
I was thinking of making my turkey this way the night before. I did make the mashed potatoes and the drunken sweet potato casserole and chopped all the veggies for the stuffing and relish tray, but. Seeing what you did here I am definitely going to do this next year, God willing.
Thanks for the informative video. BTW, Great decorations.

You made that turkey dismantling look quite easy — great idea for getting an even cook! I spatchcock mine and use the backbone in the stock but yours looked just as good. Hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving.

Great video, I also break down my turkey and cook the parts separately. We're mostly into dark meat here, so the breast is mainly for post-Thanksgiving sangwiches, which I made Kimmelweck rolls for this year.

Now I'm looking forward to a much simpler Christmas — just toss a ham in the oven to reheat and we're good to go. But I fear hams aren't gonna be cheap.

I was hoping to see all of your friends, but understand that some may prefer not to be shown. You amaze me with all you do!! Cooking the turkey the night before is a brilliant idea. That's at least one thing that can be visited up and crossed off the list a day ahead. Everything looked yummy and prepared with love. I can only imagine having a wonderful friend like you, let alone 13 friends. 😳
    Happy Thanksgiving to you!!

Hope you had an awesome Turkey Day Lisa! I made that Aldi boxed stuffing & made sure to add celery & onions like you did in your $25 Thanksgiving video. Thank you for all the tips! I always learn something new with your videos 🖤
