I use pumpkin pie spice which has, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and ground ginger. I tried this after I ran out of nutmeg. They were delicious.

I made these yesterday and they were bomb. I had only made them once before and the recipe didnβt layer it like that, it just melted everything in the butter and then you pour it over the yams. I preferred this method. One extra thing I added was pure maple syrup to the melted butter and vanilla extract. I also made your crockpot greens. Thank you! And someone give this man a cooking show on the food network ASAP.

I guess I have been doing this wrong, but I heat the sugars and spices with butter and honey and pour it over my yams before I cook them. They turn out great, so this version was a new one to me.
