Oh this vlog reminded me of when I was about 20, new bride, and my mom trying teach me how to can fresh grown green beans in our pressure canner. Evidently we didn't have gasket on right, and the whole thing exploded! We had glass, hot water, and green beans everywhere! Mom had curlers in her hair because her and dad were going out later, and there were beans lodged in the curlers lol. It was such a mess. Luckily no one was hurt. The proper gasket position has been marked with nail polish on the canner since then lol. So glad yours didn't blow. Have fun with it and enjoy your yummy meals.

Boy Breck ,I was watching that pot so closely it was almost like watching the moon launch šŸ˜†Pretty good first try , it taste good so that's a plus! Like you said, that just wasn't the greatest Chile recipe. Although Chile does thicken & taste better the second day ,I bet you could get away with using 1/2 that broth , when you cook it stove top you can boil away excess liquids & have a stronger tasting result. Looking forward to learning with you on this new contraption .I use home oxygen & had to stop most cooking due to getting to close to the fame would be a bang also the fumes bother my lungs. We have help ,but hubby cooks weekend s, so something like this would allow me to be more involved in the kitchen. Great vlog šŸ‘

Laughing. With the cutting of the green and hot peppers, the audio didn't match the video. Reminded me of old Charlie Chaplin films. (You could also make this on your stove top or just throw it in an easy, old fashioned crock pot.) Thank you for a nice try.

I love my instant pot!! I totally agree with Joey Robison using saute' function to brown and start everything. I use all those spices too except the flour. I always use beef stock instead of just broth. But everyone has their own special chili recipe and I'm sure you'll hear a lot of them. I probably will try a few myself.

If you like the flavor of this recipe just reduce the liquid. Reduce it a little each time till you find the right consistency. Find a local farmers market and get some fresh hot chilis for flavor.

It seems a bit too soupy liquid like for chili and too much broth and all that sodium. Next time use tomato paste to help thicken and flavor it to be thick which is how i like my chili.

I have an Instant Pot that intimidates me! I have a 3 quart and yours looked huge so you must have a larger one! I, like you read the booklet and still didn't know what I was supposed to do! There are so many buttons to push! I am so used to dumping everything in my slow cooker and walking away. Now my problem is I cannot for the life of me get the lid back on so I can lock it. You did make this look easy guess I will try again! Hi little Byte!

when using the pressure cooker, it's best to either sear the meat in the crockpot or what I do is cook the meat in a skillet, get all my fixins together, when the meat is done put it in the pot and then add all your fixins. plus a pack of chili powder. 2 cups of water (I never use broth) pressure for 60mins (some folks do 45mins) when done, let the steam out and then it will not look watery and taste like chili. (I just finished a weeks worth of chili today lol) I like using my Power Pressure cooker for that, soups etc. For real beans, let the beans soak overnight and then use.

Good first effort with your Instant Pot. I look forward to your upcoming recipes with it. It did look more soupy but it tasted good that is important too. Good Job Chef Breck!

Instapots are very popular these days! I make chili with tomato soup, large can diced tomatoes, cumin, hot pepper seeds, light red kidney beans, yellow, orange and red peppers plus ground beef. Doesnā€™t surprise me you used jalapeƱos Lol!!

I love mine and cook so much with it try making Mac n cheese with it so creamy! One big suggestion I would encourage you to watch instant pot recipes on YouTube they have some great ones and I found when I first started was the more I watched them the more comfortable I got cooking with the pot… Keep in mind the pot can do lots and is more than just a pressure cooker as it sautes, slow cooks, bakes, etc. Enjoy yours… to me the best new appliance to come down the pike in years!!!

Have one and have done corned beef & cabbage, BBQ Ribs & Beef Stroganoff. Sure it isn't grilling or smoking them but they sure turned out fall of the bone tender. I still need to find some more recipes myself. As Alisa mentioned you can saute the beef in the pot first then drain the excess grease. Some of it is also trial & error. Was 30 minutes the cook time for the single recipe? If so, since you doubled the recipe perhaps you should have doubled the time also. Then it might per chance resemble the consistency of chili. ( Donā€™t worry about the ā€œ truckā€ as yet. When you buy a house , if it has property and you intend to do remodeling and such, youā€™re gonna need a truck to haul all your supplies. Youā€™ll also need it for your landscaping chores.) I am wondering, why didnā€™t you leave the rib and seeds in the jalapeƱos for extra heat? Oh, I ā€˜m a native Texan anā€™ I ainā€™t got no truck ( yet) anā€™ I kinda like havinā€™ beans in my chili coz I believe beans makes the chili a little bit thicker. šŸ‘šŸ˜€

I make my Texas chili on my stovetop, only takes half hour, and tastes amazing. My family requests my chili all the time. And we love the pinto beans in it also. I might get an instapot for other recipes tho, I have so many recipe ideas running thru my brain all the time. I love watching you cook, and you recipes are amazing! Keep the great vids coming!

hi Breck, I don't have an instapot, but when I want my chili spicier I add Zing Zang instead of jalapenos.

I use red peppers instead, and also celery too.
Yours didn't look too bad the important thing is taste šŸ˜‰

I made shrimp scampi for the first time tonight for my husband's BD supper. It turned out pretty tasty.

I love my Instant Pot. May I suggest you brown your hamburger meat on saute' first before you put all the other ingredients in. It gives a better appearance to the meat. I also suggest you put some chili powder and cumin and about a tablespoon of masa flour in it to thicken it up.

Iā€™ve been thinking about getting an instapot because I live in a garage apartment that doesnā€™t have a kitchen.. so that might be a good thing to have..

On the JalapeƱos.. I really like the heat, so wouldnā€™t it be ok to leave the seeds in? The seeds are what give it the heat..

Iā€™m from Iowa. Chili should have beans. If it doesnā€™t have beans, the only thing itā€™s good for is being the chili on hotdogs.šŸ˜„ you can brown your ground beef in the pot on sautĆ©. Put you chili in a pan and cook it down on the stove.
