Today I experimented with my new Instant Pot by attempting to prepare a beef chili. Please Don’t Let This Thing Explode. Watch and see what happens.
Oh this vlog reminded me of when I was about 20, new bride, and my mom trying teach me how to can fresh grown green beans in our pressure canner. Evidently we didn't have gasket on right, and the whole thing exploded! We had glass, hot water, and green beans everywhere! Mom had curlers in her hair because her and dad were going out later, and there were beans lodged in the curlers lol. It was such a mess. Luckily no one was hurt. The proper gasket position has been marked with nail polish on the canner since then lol. So glad yours didn't blow. Have fun with it and enjoy your yummy meals.
Wow! It looks intimidating!! Lol I went out and bought a crockpot. Always wanted one. Made my first dish yesterday . Chicken soup. Picked something easy. Loved it!! I will be using it often.
Pressureluck.com is an incredible source plus thousands of recipes online and Facebook groups.
Heeyyy Breck, it appears you have picked an easy & simple recipe for chili!! And good prepping skills is a must… okay looks as though youāve got this dish under control… so take care, stay safešŗšøš¼ššš§š¼āš³š»š»š©š»āš»
How QUICKLY you dispatched those Green Peppers! Impressive. MOST impressive.
That looked good. Good job on your first time, Breck. My daughter has one of these and she uses it all the time. Thanks for sharing.ā¤ā¤š
Boy Breck ,I was watching that pot so closely it was almost like watching the moon launch šPretty good first try , it taste good so that's a plus! Like you said, that just wasn't the greatest Chile recipe. Although Chile does thicken & taste better the second day ,I bet you could get away with using 1/2 that broth , when you cook it stove top you can boil away excess liquids & have a stronger tasting result. Looking forward to learning with you on this new contraption .I use home oxygen & had to stop most cooking due to getting to close to the fame would be a bang also the fumes bother my lungs. We have help ,but hubby cooks weekend s, so something like this would allow me to be more involved in the kitchen. Great vlog š
Laughing. With the cutting of the green and hot peppers, the audio didn't match the video. Reminded me of old Charlie Chaplin films. (You could also make this on your stove top or just throw it in an easy, old fashioned crock pot.) Thank you for a nice try.
I love my instant pot!! I totally agree with Joey Robison using saute' function to brown and start everything. I use all those spices too except the flour. I always use beef stock instead of just broth. But everyone has their own special chili recipe and I'm sure you'll hear a lot of them. I probably will try a few myself.
Those who have a chili recipe send it in…šš¼š
To reduce liquid, just simmer it in a pan on the stove (stirring now and again) till the liquid evaporates. Looked very tasty tho!
Awesome! We use ours all the time. I am making chili for a chili cook off at our church tomorrow night. Hope you enjoy the Instapot. Chili was my birthday vlog.
my experience Breck in mexican is 3 essential spices, cumin powder, coriander powder and paprika, is chilli mexican ?
š³
I ground mh beef 1st
If you like the flavor of this recipe just reduce the liquid. Reduce it a little each time till you find the right consistency. Find a local farmers market and get some fresh hot chilis for flavor.
Thanks for the insta pot lesson!
After watching a few times I think I will be ready to give mine a shot again. Thank you
Great recipe Breck. Yum.
Just wondering if the "One Pot" is like a pressure cooker and slow cooker all in one?
Great device.
It seems a bit too soupy liquid like for chili and too much broth and all that sodium. Next time use tomato paste to help thicken and flavor it to be thick which is how i like my chili.
I have an Instant Pot that intimidates me! I have a 3 quart and yours looked huge so you must have a larger one! I, like you read the booklet and still didn't know what I was supposed to do! There are so many buttons to push! I am so used to dumping everything in my slow cooker and walking away. Now my problem is I cannot for the life of me get the lid back on so I can lock it. You did make this look easy guess I will try again! Hi little Byte!
I got on at my store on clearance for $10
when using the pressure cooker, it's best to either sear the meat in the crockpot or what I do is cook the meat in a skillet, get all my fixins together, when the meat is done put it in the pot and then add all your fixins. plus a pack of chili powder. 2 cups of water (I never use broth) pressure for 60mins (some folks do 45mins) when done, let the steam out and then it will not look watery and taste like chili. (I just finished a weeks worth of chili today lol) I like using my Power Pressure cooker for that, soups etc. For real beans, let the beans soak overnight and then use.
I'm going to have to get me one of those.
Instead of the beef broth, use a 46 oz can of tomato juice and a packet of chili seasoning. I think that will help it taste more like chili.
Good first effort with your Instant Pot. I look forward to your upcoming recipes with it. It did look more soupy but it tasted good that is important too. Good Job Chef Breck!
You should have some county music playing while you cookš
Love myself some chill n beans
Instapots are very popular these days! I make chili with tomato soup, large can diced tomatoes, cumin, hot pepper seeds, light red kidney beans, yellow, orange and red peppers plus ground beef. Doesnāt surprise me you used jalapeƱos Lol!!
I just bought one for Christmas too and I was scared to death to use it for the first time lol. I used it a few times now and Iām finally getting used to it.
I love mine and cook so much with it try making Mac n cheese with it so creamy! One big suggestion I would encourage you to watch instant pot recipes on YouTube they have some great ones and I found when I first started was the more I watched them the more comfortable I got cooking with the pot… Keep in mind the pot can do lots and is more than just a pressure cooker as it sautes, slow cooks, bakes, etc. Enjoy yours… to me the best new appliance to come down the pike in years!!!
Wow chili with no chili powder? Looks good but looks watery. Less broth probably.
If you open both ends of the tomato paste you can push it out like a piston, no muss, no fuss and get every last bit.
Have one and have done corned beef & cabbage, BBQ Ribs & Beef Stroganoff. Sure it isn't grilling or smoking them but they sure turned out fall of the bone tender. I still need to find some more recipes myself. As Alisa mentioned you can saute the beef in the pot first then drain the excess grease. Some of it is also trial & error. Look towards more Bytes & Nibbles.
Hi Breck! Really enjoy your cooking videos! This recipe sounds delicious. The Instapot is one terrifying appliance to me. I look forward to the next one!
Was 30 minutes the cook time for the single recipe? If so, since you doubled the recipe perhaps you should have doubled the time also. Then it might per chance resemble the consistency of chili. ( Donāt worry about the ā truckā as yet. When you buy a house , if it has property and you intend to do remodeling and such, youāre gonna need a truck to haul all your supplies. Youāll also need it for your landscaping chores.) I am wondering, why didnāt you leave the rib and seeds in the jalapeƱos for extra heat? Oh, I ām a native Texan anā I aināt got no truck ( yet) anā I kinda like havinā beans in my chili coz I believe beans makes the chili a little bit thicker. šš
Use tomato sauce instead of beef broth and use beef and ground pork much better and chili seasoning
I always enjoy your cooking videos. Thank you Breck.
I make my Texas chili on my stovetop, only takes half hour, and tastes amazing. My family requests my chili all the time. And we love the pinto beans in it also. I might get an instapot for other recipes tho, I have so many recipe ideas running thru my brain all the time. I love watching you cook, and you recipes are amazing! Keep the great vids coming!
I love watching you cook!
hi Breck, I don't have an instapot, but when I want my chili spicier I add Zing Zang instead of jalapenos.
I use red peppers instead, and also celery too.
Yours didn't look too bad the important thing is taste š
I made shrimp scampi for the first time tonight for my husband's BD supper. It turned out pretty tasty.
I got one for Christmas also. And no I have not used it. Yes it intimidates me. I swear I hear it say Boo every time I walk by it in the kitchen š± You made it look easy.
I love my Instant Pot. May I suggest you brown your hamburger meat on saute' first before you put all the other ingredients in. It gives a better appearance to the meat. I also suggest you put some chili powder and cumin and about a tablespoon of masa flour in it to thicken it up.
Weāve got one and really like it. Ribs and roasts are really good in it. I liked your chopping sound effects along with the time lapse video lol!
Absolutely gotta have Beans!
Iāve been thinking about getting an instapot because I live in a garage apartment that doesnāt have a kitchen.. so that might be a good thing to have..
On the JalapeƱos.. I really like the heat, so wouldnāt it be ok to leave the seeds in? The seeds are what give it the heat..
Iām from Iowa. Chili should have beans. If it doesnāt have beans, the only thing itās good for is being the chili on hotdogs.š you can brown your ground beef in the pot on sautĆ©. Put you chili in a pan and cook it down on the stove.
