It’s time for the latest charcoal / black recipe and despite considering using squid ink, the potent smell put me off and I luckily had some activated charcoal …
HEY!!! I don't know if he's said this in the video (my YT is messing up and giving me no audio) BUT!!!
IF YOU'RE ON ANY KIND OF MEDICATION, AVOID ACTIVATED CHARCOAL FOODS LIKE THE PLAGUE, IT NEGATES/DILUTES MOST IF NOT ALL INGESTED MEDICATIONS!!! There's a reason it's used as an emergency first aid for poison ingestion! Depending on how slow-absorbing your medication is, the window of time in between doses where it would hypothetically be safe to consume activated charcoal can be vanishingly small. PLEASE be responsible with your health! If you want funky looking foods, black food dye is a much safer option.
Well Barry, the professionals don't need a mold. If you know how to play with blocks you can build a piramide without it.
I need โmom i ate wood louseโ merch
Celery is an allergen, could be produced in a factory that handles products that contain celery or that use celery in them?
what is it with the cone thing lol? traffic cones probably aren't foodsafe, and doesn't the chocolate/sugar stick to the paper?
have you never seen how a croquembouche is built, or is that method just for fun?
Just me thinking "looks like someone should drink more water…"?
Couldn't you have held the cone point down to the floor? Just a quick thought for moving it haha
Celery is on there because itโs one of the 14 common allergens, probably through the processing it may come into contact with items containing celery or celery seed.
I was one of the guys who suggested the inc. I think the Taste wonโt be that strong as the smell is. Especially bc you just use very little amounts of it. I know when the whole black food trend arrived, that most people used Squid inc and no one did ever tasted it afterwards, so I would give it a try, maybe one more trilogy? ๐
The milk and celery that's from the factory where it's processed they must make something else with milk and celery
Another option for black sweets is black cocoa powder. It's been heavily alkalized to get the dark color and is what is used to make Oreos.
Try black coco next time.
What was that horse eating ? ๐
Why wouldn't you chill it tip down like an ice cream cone?
Celery could be used a preservative
I know nothing about making one of these… but can someone tell me why he wouldn't just turn it upside down, too to the floor when moving it? Seemingly you could even put it in a vase or something upside down to let it set? ๐ค๐ค๐ค
Tuxedo croquembouche
Didn't dawn on you to turn the cone wide end up so that it all sat evenly??????
Have you ever thought about black food coloring? Lol. That looks disgusting.
When are we getting the Woodlouse recipe?
I learnt to make one on the outside of the cone in school, try that, it's much easier ๐
pheobe is so creative! youre a great father for fostering their creativity (:
Mrs Barry adorable.
Heck, since the squid ink smells fishy anyway, have yourself some squid ink pasta with salmon.
All I could think about throughout the video was: "You try filling a biscuit" ๐คฃ
Ah, yes, I wonder whatever became of "Fishy" Croquembouche, she used to hang out down by the docks.
Barry, Barry, Barry, why do you keep building them inside the cone? They go on the *outside*! Or like someone else commented, you can build them as a free-standing pointed tower.
Please make a T-shirt that reads
" No one wants a fishy croquembuche "๐
You can buy BLACK backing cocoa. btw unless you've ingested poison on purpose there's no health benefit to eating charcol, there's suposed to be microbes in your gut.
Before the eggs went into the bowl, that stuff looked like Barry asked road workers for some leftovers. After whisking the eggs in it reminded me more of some silicone sealer for bathrooms or sprayable isolation foam
Mum, i ate a woodlouse, I'm fking crying. Thanks Barry :')
Y'know, those profiteroles actually looked kinda like metal slimes before baking, channelling a bit of Dragon Quest energy. Gooniversally impressive!
Looks like you whipped that cream into butter…. easy to do.
Easy to pronounce the genus – KEF-LUH-POD
Barry have you every tried charcoal cheese? We've managed to get it from county fairs etc… I mean, perhaps you'd want to melt it yourself as I know you don't really like it otherwise.
From one of your Patreon sponsors "Please stop making stuff with activated charcoal". It does nothing for flavor. Why don't you make regular chocolate pate choux instead? it would at least taste like something.
I think that you should make more black recipes. Love your videos BTW
You could have just used black food coloring with the chocolate.
Make black balls and then cover them in white chocolate. ๐คฆโโ๏ธ
Well done, Pheebs. That lego kitchen came out nicely.
DO A BLACK FISH CARBONARA WITH THE SQUID INK! You could make your own pasta with it and make a black sauce even ๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ
'Mom I ate a woodlouse!!' ๐๐๐
Companies like to cover their backs as during production and transit products often get contaminated. It's for legal protection to prevent being sued by someone who has an allergic reaction. A company can just say we warned you
Watching this during Ramadan was a mistake ๐
"I'll keep beating it and see it it does….oh there we go"
Another anecdote from Barry's childhood.
The mouth feel of choux pastry always makes me retch, for some reason. And chocolate eclairs always look so nice, too!
Cuttlefish are another type of Cephalopod. Like squid, but not. And a lot less bolshy, too. And budgies like their shells to strop their beaks up with.
Use the ink to make fresh pasta with. It looks spectacular.
