    The shrimp and grits is fine.

    It's the sweet grits that are heresy.

    Sweet grits are leftovers.

    It's how you feed leftover grits to the kiddos the next morning.

    Either fried, or sweet. And that means add milk, butter and sugar.

    That is all.

    Otherwise, no complaints, you used the real grits and that right there puts you miles ahead of most people.

    Sweet grits??? I’m gonna “nope” my way right out of there! Cinnamon and sugar are for oatmeal and cream of wheat. Grits are strictly savory – s&p, butter, cheese. Period.

    if you want cheese to incorporate well into your grits, divide it up and add it every few minutes to the cooking grits, not all at once at the end. If it gets too thick, thin it out with butter.

    As a lifelong African American Mississippian, grits and eggs may be the single food combination I’ve eaten more than anything else ever.

    Bless your heart Babish. You didn’t use pepper or nearly enough butter and salt. This was definitely not even close to being accurate. There should definitely be a botched episode with Issac Toups

    If you want to get technical, you botched the egg preparation a little bit.

    First: An over easy egg shouldn't have any browning, in the movie they are pure white as well.
    Second: the egg in the movie wasn't actually over easy, but hybrid of an over-easy and a sunny side up. The egg was covered while cooking and never flipped, you can tell because the yellow of the yolk is visible through the cooked white.
