What shortcuts do you guys have for summer meal prep? Are you preparing anything for the holiday weekend? I hope this gives some ideas and inspiration!
I get so much from your videos. I will use the pineapple core to infuse my water. Thatās brilliant and not wasteful. I especially enjoyed the tips on picking a watermelon because itās a hit or miss with me. As for the pie cover- I didnāt know that either. LOL! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for showing a real family refrigerator! I have watched way too many fridge organizing videos that showing it packed with drinks, fruit and vegetables. Absolutely no room leftovers.
I learned the pie plate cover thing today as well…premade Graham cracker crust. No bake cheese cake with berries…cream cheese, whipped cream, lemon a bit of sugar and berries to top off…yum!
Thanks for the watermelon tips!
I just had surgery so my husband is preparing to grill and I cut up some veggies and fruit on Thursday before my surgery yesterday. Our kid's are grown but we have 13 grandchildren so I stock up on popsicles and stuff for s'mores and popcorn for the firepit. Hot dog's, cheese, frozen veggies and french fries for easy sides. I get bread at the bread store and freeze it. Fruit snacks, crackers and I make homemade tortilla chips for taco salad and chips with rotel, salsa or guacamole.
I love the bins you had the string cheese in. I need to go grab a couple.
I am totally doing that with my pineapple core! The pineapple is on my counter for memorial day, can't wait.
Have been eating/making yogurt pies for over 30 yrs… but was never taught to use jello š š¤·āāļø… weāve only ever just mixed yogurt and cool whip and whatever fruit to go with it š
i never knew that was a pie cover either
You didn't know that was a lid?!?!?! I thought everyone knew that! It is sooo handy!
Again, a day late, but finally watching!!!! I need ALL the ideas for summer lunches and meals for the kids!
I do the pineapple core trick too!
I am able to eat the whole watermelon in 1 to 2 days by myself
Thanks for the pie idea. I just whipped one up and it's in the fridge. Have a great Memorial Day weekend!
I can't find tubs if the whipped topping in the UK. Any ideas for substitutes? That pie looks so very yummy
New subbie. As a mom and summer here I need all the tips I can get! We have 4 boys and so I feel u when u said the prepped food goes within a couple of days š
I like putting cake frosting on graham crackers!
You look gorgeous!
Can you store the pie in the fridge after it's been eaten some.
Love idea of pineapple water. Thanks
I did know about the cover of the crust. š I make a šcherry torte im the graham cracker crust. (1 cool whip, 1 lite cream cheese, 1 cup sugar, 1 t. Vanilla. Mix pour in crust and top with pie filling) this has been a family favorite for years. āŗ
Open sandwiches or wraps are a staple for us in Summer. We often use a dip as a base, like hummus or avocado dip as a little goes a long way and it's tasty. Add grated carrot, chopped tomatoes and some leftover cooked meat shredded with a fork. Easy and affordable. All the ingredients can be prepared earlier and then we put out the ingredients and each make our own lunch.
Another variation for your yummy dessert – replace some of the water with soda water to give it an extra zing.
And even get 2 different flavoured yoghurts – make up half the ingredients into one mix using lime yoghurt and the other half use lemon yoghurt. So you'd get a layered lime and lemon & lime dessert.
I still love graham crackers.
Great tip about using the pineapple core in your water! Doing this tomorrow! š
Yum. How much water in the lime jello pie?
Iām a senior and I live by myself (my son is long gone, actually in the army), but I find your meal prep and food videos very charming. Oh and on top of that Iām whole food plant based so much of what you make I donāt eat but I still enjoy watching your videos. Youāre a very thoughtful and loving mom.
The pollination of a watermelon happens on the blossom end….. For the curious
Oh man that watermelon makes me so jealous. I live in Okinawa Japan and a watermelon that size is $25 US dollars here
A few years back I started buying two watermelons at a time to save myself an extra trip to the grocery store. Y entire family loves watermelon
OMGsh, great idea to use the pineapple core in your water! Next time I'm going to chunk up the core and throw it in the freezer and use it over a few days!
Thank you I always enjoy your videos you provide some great ideas
That pie looks so good! We don't have cool whip in Australia, is there something I could use instead please?
In the summer we eat fruit, salads, frozen treats, and for hot meals, Trader Joeās frozen foods heated in the toaster oven! Easy lazy summerā¤ļø
Great video as always! Not like we need another kitchen gadget but have you tried a pineapple cutter? I love mine so much makes pineapple a breaze! Have a good one Juanita!
Another thing for watermelon is smack it. If you get a good thud sound it also is an indication of lots of sweet juice.
Great idea for the pineapple water.
That taco bake looked good. Will have to try that.
Random comment but the way Mindy holds her knife while chopping makes me so nervous! Otherwise, great videos š
Thank you for all the great tips
āUnofficial amateurā watermelon….š¤£
Thanks for the pie recipe I will be making it soon.
I saw someone else on a you tube video turn the pie container over and attach it and I was like woah!! I don't normally buy store bought pie crusts but it seems awesome for that feature alone!
Could you leave the pie recipe please?
Mindy! I finally found the Aldi pub style pretzels! So good š
I've been having to buy a watermelon every week. My special needs kiddo goes nuts over it and it helps hydrate him. With my 4 kids though we will eat the entire thing in a day.
Glad Iām not the only one finding out late in life about the pie cover!, Lol
Not really a short cut but you said you like graham crackers, try using them in banana pudding instead of vanilla wafers.. My Mom was almost 95 when she passed three years ago and grew up during the depression and vanilla wafers had not been invented yet. Pineapple pudding is good like this also…
